Party planning for my 14th birthday? (Read Details)?!

Question: Well, it's around that time again.
Last year, I made a big birthday boo boo by inviting 13 girls to sleep over at my house. Total disaster.

But hey! Another year older, another year wiser, right?
THIS year, I've decided to have a party- but not just any party.
A park party.
I want it to be from 7 - 10 pm, because it's going to be one of those cool, late, teenager parties. (Teenage does not mean alcoholic, mind you.)

What kind of activities should I have?
I've never really had a big party before, and I don't want it to bomb.
I plan to have around 35 people. (Boys and girls.)

Does anyone have any "absolutely not's" they wish to share?

Any food and/or beverages that should be required for these kind of parties?

What kind of shuffle mix should I make for the music?

Also, would it be rude to put a brief list of gift ideas on the back?
I wouldn't want to offend my party guests at ALL.

My party is scheduled for the first week in April, so I have time to plan.

Well it's good you layed out all your info! That's a great start. I'l start with music, you should totally get dance music or techno. If you're not into it, do something you like. Fallout Boy, Panic, Paramore are all pretty grea to put together. OR! 80's music is my personal fave :] It has alot of those good songs, you know, but never knew they were 80's.
I actually made a mistake at my sweet 16 last year, I only had about 15 boys and girls, but I didn't spend much time with any of them, and just kept fretting about what was happening next, and I didn't talk to quite a few people, and I feel bad. I finally didn't care when we started playing games! We played Name That Tune, that would be a very hard park game.
But for game activities, I would say sardines. That game is pretty awesome! I'm sure you know how to play it. One person hides and the rest find that person and then they all hide with that first person. Reverse hide'n'seek.
For the gifts, it's not rude, you're just stating what you like, and it it only going to be taken as a suggestion, not a command!
Food should be around.. lots of it. Soda is pretty obvious, unless you don't like that, go for water [or flavored water] to keep everyone hidrated during games! For food, not pizza, the grease will make you sick if you expect to run around for hours. Sandwiches, cheese and crackers [I know it sounds lame, but it works!], chips and dip, veggies.
2 weeks will work for the invites! Perfect.
Ok, I think I covered everything? Good luck!! Remeber to have fun and take too many pictures ;] Happy Birthday!

person above me pretty much covered what i wanted to say but couple of things:
1) are your parents going to be there? cuz at around 9:30pm, cops start patrolling and u don't wana get in trouble! and its good youre not drinking under age ;)
2) bring ipod speakers or something and download a whole lot of tunes and so people can have a choice and see a whole selection (but i definately recommend Ministry of Sound!)
3) make sure you don't have random teenagers at night crashing it and bringing unwanted things like alcohol and more people that u dont know!
4) play spotlight!

happy birthday =)

flashlight tag

i think you should have it from 5 - 10. :[ because that really isn't too long and it's just way amazinger to have long parties, it really is! like the birthday party i went to on saturday was from 5 - 10 and the only game was guitar hero but it was amazing. ;o
and you should definitely put IMOGEN HEAP and AVENUE Q and A CHORUS LINE on your ipod. oh and spring awkaening but if alec answers this i'm sure he'll say that anyway.
and definitely have water!!! even if you have other drinks. and a game = lava monster. OR TWISTER?!?!?! but not really.

why am i typing in all lowercase?!

I agree with the people before me. All I wanted to say is that its nice to see a mature 16 year old on here and I hope you have an absolutely fab birthday.
