I am doing an 80's dance for my daughter's birthday and we had hired a DJ however after finding out my brother has all of the stuff, we are doing it ourselves. If you would rather spend money on decorations and favors, do it yourself. You need someone with big speakers or a system. Ask your friends and family. If so, make up 4 or 5 mixed CD's with your favorite music on it and go for it. If you go ahead with the DJ ours was going to cost us 300.00.........

It's really not bad to just burn your own CD of your favorite dance music. Just put a certain amount of time together and you'll have a great time dancing without having to worry about the hundreds of dollars you spent.
Then you have more money on the fun stuff like food, drinks, and favors to give your friends.
