We are having an adult 50's diner themed party. What kind of alcoholic beverages would suit the theme?!

Question: We are having a 50th birthday party for my mom in the 50's diner theme (burgers, hot dogs, grilled cheese, chili, crinkle cut fries, applesauce, pickle spears, flavored sodas, floats, sundaes, milkshakes, cherries, etc.).

Since it is an adult party I am trying to come up with approriate mixed drinks and beer and frozen drinks that suit the theme.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Feel free to comment or suggest anything else also!

Thanks!

Try the link below - they list many drinks with recipes, supposedly from the 1950's.

You probably can't go wrong with a lot of the tropical types of drinks.

And for a twist, how about a Jack & Coke Float or a Rum & Coke Float - both would be adult and still bring back childhood memories. Or you can add a little something to your milkshakes (amaretto in a chocolate shake, goldshlager in vanilla, etc...) for a little more flair.

Heh, this was my parents' era. They drank martinis, Manhattans, Pink Squirrels, Side Cars, Grasshoppers, and Harvey Wallbangers.

I even have pictures to prove it. :)

They had bars in every house... I think your idea of beer is good and another drink...Maybe a punch bowl, when I was young my parents made one of
Whiskey
Sweet and sour
7 up
and Hawaiian punch...something like that..look on the internet for recipes because so many people like different liquor drinks, a good punch bowl might do the trick and be easy too, you won't be mixing drinks all night and you can enjoy the party too.
Sounds like so much fun..Enjoy "Happy 50 to your Mom"

margaritas.you can add frozen fruit to change them up or add food coloring to make them more fun.it also goes with your frozen food theme.

I am thinking of drinks like babycham, and Cherry B... if you can still get it. Gin & Tonic is timeless. You can also make "snowballs" with advocat and lemonade. as for the beer drinkers a good bitter like Stones Bitter or "John Smith Smooth" would be ok, and see if you can find some "dark mild". Hope this helps.
Hey I hope your party goes like a dream!!
