What can you recommend for centerpieces?!

Question: My husband's turning 30 this weekend and I'm planning a birthday party. It's going to be in my parent's backyard. I'll be placing about 6 round tables and a long table for food and dessert (this one with the big/tall "centerpiece"). For this occasion I think flowers are not the solution, too girlie. Last year I decorated with colorful gumballs. I have no idea what to do. I just want it to be colorful, masculine, and cool. Any ideas....

How about a gold fish in a small bowl with colored glass beads in the bottom. let guests take the fish home.

Lollipop trees or arrangements for the tables.. and maybe for the big/tall centerpiece you could do this with balloons-- i think its pretty cool! http://www.makinmemories4u.com/images/lo...

I went to a party once where the centerpieces were different pictures of the guest of honor at different stages of their life and I thought that it was a really cool idea. You could get some help from his parents with the pictures and then go to a dollar store and get some really nice frames to put them in. Or think of what some of his favorite hobbies are and go to a craft store, the usually have lots of different little wooden figurines for fairly cheap, for example if he was really into cars, you could get several different cars and put them in the cente of the table, you could paint them or not depending on your preference. Hope this helps and Good Luck!

For outdoor parties I like to use small galvanized buckets for centerpieces. There is so much you can do with them. Some ideas: fill with sand and put a candle(s) or flags in them, fill with popcorn or chips, put a plant in them, fill with bottles of beer, the possibilities are endless. You can get them with beer and/or sports logos printed on them or glue your own on. You can buy them at Home Depot or Walmart. Also, here is a website that might help you with ideas:

how about a card/poker/casino theme you could put all the supplies (diretcions, cards/dice, chips ect) in a basket in the center of each table and for the big center piece take some branches and put in a large bucket painted to look like a stack of poker chips and decorate them by hanging playing cards and dice (just punch/drill holes and hang with string or fishing line) instead of just using table cloths you could use green felt or at least use green table cloths. if you live near a casino maybe you could go there and talk to the events manager and see if you can get your hands on some of their old posters advertising special games or tournaments or concerts etc.
have fun

stand in the middle of it he want mind.

On the main table you could have a papier mache cake with a doll bursting out of it. And you could have pictures of lap dancers or something similar done on the computer and just slotted together to stand. But I think the doll coming out of the cake is a good idea. You could dress her as scantilly or outrageously as you wanted.

I would use something of his hobbies. (Fishing poles with colorful fish, race cars, sports) let your mind go and have fun with it. Maybe if you have children, let them hold birthday signs and take their picture.
