obviously, tea:) ... At a local hobby/craft/decor store (Hobby Lobby) I saw alot of bright, neon colored garden decorations. There were BIG flowers, buckets, giant bugs:) ... some of the flowers were whirligigs, some weren't. Alot of big, bright oversized flowers would be cute around your deck. ... I saw Martha Stewart cover some stools on her Fine Living show, to look like mushrooms (toad stools). A couple of those would be cute.... You need a big striped Cheshire cat in a tree too - even if it's just a cardboard one:) ... Serve little teacakes, tea sandwiches (watercress, cucumber and tomato), chocolate covered strawberries.

you need a mouse in a tea-pot that spouts riddles

go to www.craftster.com

check out their party forum under occasions and holidays and browse through it. the mad hatter tea party is pretty popular there and there are a few threads with lots of pictures and ideas for throwing that kind of party.

thats a cool idea!!! i would put the tea-pot in a big hat and then walk around asking if people want tea. then pull it out of the hat if they want any! dress up as the mad hatter and be like "lets see if i have tea..." rumage around in your hat and then be like there it is!!! who put that there!!??

thats what i would do!

Cup cakes decorated as the characters from the story.
Serve all the foods in tea cups.

ok well first of all, that is a great party idea.
it sounds like you dont want any little kiddish ideas so what i would do is:
-if your party will be going on in by the time it gets dark, you can drape christmas lights all around your yard. it will look great.
-you can get some really great fantasy-wonderland decorations. that would be adorable.
-you can get some really formal pretty tea cups for drinks, and have punch to put in them.
-you can scatter some chairs and tables around your yard with scones and muffins for guests on them
-if you are going to be playing games that have winners, for the prize you can get some cute hats
-to eat, i always like to have a food other than pizza. last year i had fettuccini alfredo, the year before that chinese take out, and this year im having tacos! so if you want, think of a food that you like, even if it sounds crazy. if guests dont like it, have a plan b like mac n cheese or something that lots of people like.
HOPE I HELPED YA!
have a great party!
and you might want to look at the question i asked...it has to do with partys too.

Try to take ideas from the movie and put a spin on it. Wild/Fun Hats, Crazy shoes, buy odd looking teapots, teacups. Hang up crazy signs. Play a trivia game, cards, riddles, buy lots of props

How about having everyone comes as their favorite Alice
in Wonderland character and have prizes for the best
costume. Also have treats that goes along with the theme
the Mad Hatter's tea party. Everyone should have a really
good time. Good luck!
