Cupcakes, my sis loves thoses (she's 7).
Boys usally like things that have masculine stuff like maybe a tire cupcake. If a girl party a flower. Make your setting indulge with the food. It makes the atmosphere more playful.

Homemade Mac and Cheese or a dessert such as brownies.

Caterpillar Biscuit Snack Recipe

Refrigerator Biscuits
Sesame Seeds
Poppy Seeds
Grated Cheese
Pretzel Sticks
Raisins
Butter or Margarine (melted)
PREPARATION:
Prepare small bowls of sesame seeds, poppy seeds and grated cheese. use two biscuits and form four small dough balls. Dip the dough balls into the melted butter and then roll them in seeds or cheese. Press the balls together on a cookie sheet to form a caterpillar shape. Bake the biscuits according to the directions on the package. When the caterpillar biscuits are done, you can poke 2 pretzel sticks into the head of the biscuit caterpillar for antennae. You can use the raisins for eyes.

hot dogs & buns .... If you have a crockpot, you can stand them up in there and put it on low to warm them ..... Or, you can roll hot dogs up in refrigerated crescent rolls and bake them ...... no mess, no fuss ...... If you want to bring a dessert, you can bake cupcakes (from a mix is fine) in cup ice cream cones. Just stand them up in the cupcake tin, instead of putting a muffin paper in there. Fill 2/3 up. But watch them carefully, so the cones don't crack....

I think candy sushi would be fun!

They didn't narrow it down- main dish, side dish, dessert?? I'd talk to some of the other parents and find out what they're bringing. What if everybody brings a dessert?- it could happen. My son is 6. A veggie tray is easy- most kids really like carrot sticks with ranch or celery with peanut butter. Desserts- cupcakes or cookies. I'd be tempted to bring pb&jelly sandwiches. Kids are going to happy to see that. It's something you know just about everyone will eat. Cut in triangles and cut off the crusts and it'll be the first item to go.

hmmmm when i was seven...I liked candy, but im sure you dont wanna bring that :D

Oh you could make mini burgers and call them krabby patties :D

You could just cut bigger buns into smaller pieces and get patties and cut them into little pieces and have some cheese and lettuce and onions :D

Im making myself hungry.
