treat him like your own just make it seem like he isn't a foster child

Get a cake, some toys, and decorations. Invite some people he knows? He's 1, he's love it.

For my sons first birthday we had a Blue's Clues themed party. The kids loved it!

one year olds LOVE visual, so plenty of colours, balloons and streamers, though not all littlies love balloons! bubbles are always a hit, a machine is cheap now or hire one for even less
food is simple, little people foods, they dont have the expectations of adults at a party, one year olds are easy, EVERYTHING amazes them and the world is a big adventure, whether you invite 2 or 10 other littlies he will have a ball

I agree about making him feel as if he is your own son! ( I used to be in foster care and I always felt out of place when Christmas and my birthday came around.) I plan on throwing a jungle themed party for my son's 1st birthday later this year. Some other ideas are:

-Winnie the Pooh
-Sesame Street
-Finding Nemo
-Lil' Slugger
-Barnyard
-Noah's Ark
-Baby Einstein
-Rubber Ducky

Does he watch TV? Make his b-day party a theme. Like Blues Clues, Winnie the Pooh, Dora the Explorer, Spongbob, ect. Then get a cake decorated to the same theme. Any kind of ice-cream will be good...he's one...i don't think he'll care.

Treat him like your own

At that age, just have some cake and icecream and invite people that he knows!!! One thing that both my kids loved was I made a little cake that was just for them and they got to sit in the middle of room and eat it however they pleased!! It was a mess but they loved it and it made some great pictures!!!! Just dont have the day to long because like all little kids he will get tired fast. I hope you have fun and good luck!!

SPONGEBOB THEME

How about "happy birthday, foster kid, when you turn 18 I will think of you as my own".
