At the bottom of your invitation but where your registered at. In paranthesis. ( ) and dont put i also like lowes. or something like that.
The invitation is not the place to suggest that people bring gifts. If you do that, it implies that they are obligated to bring gifts. A housewarming party is hosted by the new homeowners to welcome friends and family to their new home, to give tours and receive compliments, and to serve food and have friends help "warm" their residence with their caring and affection. You may receive wine or potted plants, but don't expect anything.
You could put the word out that you are registered at JCPenneys and need gift cards to Lowes. But if someone sent me an invitation with a listing of registries, I would probably decline.
No, you should not ask for anything on an invitation. It's very tacky. If people want to get you something it will be probably be wine or a plant, like Holly said. Otherwise they might ask you if you'd like a gift card and from which store.
I don't think I've ever heard of anyone registering for a house warming...
