My Wedding is May 30,2009 I need reception buffet ideas!?!

Question: I am working with a lady who does everything so she is helping me with all the wedding stuff and then she will be my caterer on top of it so I can basicaly have whatever I want? What do I want? I need some creative but tasty ideas for the whole menu! Appitizers and sides all of it! This will be a dinner reception. Thanks for any ideas.

Girl.. you are going to go out of your mind planning a buffet for your wedding dinner...lol The reason I say this IS.. my older sister had me help her plan her buffet dinner for her wedding, and it was a NIGHTMARE for months, or both of us..lol I will say it again, NIGHTMARE..lol She desided to to plan stations.. all decorated with white linens and fresh ivy, and white lights.. it was beautiful thats for sure, but trying to figure out how much of this and how much of that and what goes with what.. UGH

Anyways, she had a fresh fruit and dip table, and fresh veggie and dip table, an Italian table, an Asian food table, a grilled steak and chicken table with 3 different kinds of potatoes, with steamed veggies, and flavored butters and gravies, and sauces, she had a coffee and tea area with chocolate dipped spoons, flavored creamers, and whipped cream.. then the bar.. an open bar for over 150 ppl...lol It was just insane. She was stressed about this buffett until just hrs before the wedding.

When it was my turn to get married, I knew right away I was having a sit down dinner at a great restaurant, and the guests would have an option of 4 dishes..all choices where in within 3 weeks of the wedding and I was not stressed nor was i worried about how much and what they would like. My choices where, NY Strip, Grilled Cajun Shrimp, Chicken Marsala, or Pasta Primavara (for any vegitarians)

I desided to go all out on the cake and the honeymoon!!!

Congrats and I'm sure you will have a beautiful wedding and dinner.. just one word of advice.. RELAX!!!

you have OVER a year. what do people like? you know your guests better than us. what's your budget? how many people?

wings, little meatballs, veggies, etc. are people sitting down or standing? do little sandwiches, etc.

Potato salad OR mashed potatoes & Gravy, macaroni salad, Ham, chicken, beef roast or pork tenderloin, meatballs, baked beans, sauerkraut & kielbasa, tossed salad, fruit salad, dinner rolls, corn or bean salad, brocolli & other veggies with vegetable dip.
Have various chips, pretzels & such for nibbles. After dinner mints mixed with spanish peanuts.
Fruit punch, coffee, also decaf coffee.
Hope this helps. I used to cater weddings, showers, etc. Congratulations! Relax. You will be just fine.

Well at my sisters wedding we had a Crawfish Cheese Dip that was awesome in a bread bowl that you could dip anything from Chips to a cornish Game Hen in..... I would also do something Like a Logans Farms Turkey or ham or evena TEXAS Smoked Brisket from somewhere
