Well,you need a theme.
Since it's spring, let's concentrate on that as your inspiration.

"Luau"-or Hawaiian feast,it incorporates lots of bright colors, lots of barbecue type food, you can dress in leis, grass skirts on top your swim suits, you can play limbo, have all kinds of non-alcoholic drinks, surfer music, for when it gets dark, tea lights, torches, tiki decorations, have it by pool if you have one,and always get a water slide.
"Nautical"-Girls can dress up in sailor outfits, serve grilled steak or shrimp, you can choose an era, like 1940,and have music from that time. Basically, decorate everything as if you were on a ship. You can use inflatable rafts as seating, life rings for decoration, have a sign made up,and name the ship after a famous one,or even name it after you.
"Black Tie Formal"-Everyone dress in evening attire, serve fancy food,Jazz music,Fake Champagne,Play Charades, although this depends on the company you have,if you want a more laid back fun party,I'd go with the first two.

Well, I would definitely start with your daughter's favorite color and go from there. Maybe you could throw in some spring things (ex. flowers, butterflies, ladybugs) but make the decorations more grown up. You could make bright colored cupcakes. This is a big new trend...instead of a regular cake. For entertainment, try kareoke. The kids will have a blast with that and it will save money on a band. You can rent or a kareoke machine and the music to go with them. The kids might not be too excited about having games unless your daughter is just totally set on having some. They would probably enjoy a big dance setting instead. You could have her a special table set up, that you've specially decorated, that only she can sit at. Try hanging white christmas lights for a softer touch. Good luck and I hope the big event is magical!
