Answers: He loves jazz, sports, dining out, cigars, wrist watches, cash, his family and music.

I say try to incorporate them all who would love to do all the things they love in one weekend especially when turning 50. Maybe try to go to a local sporting event that weekend maybe invite a couple of family members smoke some cigars have a few drinks. The next day make it about the two of you go out to dinner hit up a jazz club after maybe even spend the night out get a nice hotel. I think spending time with your family and the ones that your close with is the greatest way you can spend your birthdays! Good luck.

Provided you have or have acces to the space, have an evening picnic or BBQ with a HUGE bonfire (you can get the guys at the firehouse to safely build the bonfire). If your local high school has a Jazz Band, see if they can perform, or simply have a couple of boom boxes with CDs of his favorite music. Invite the people who are important to him (and you), and have fun!

How about a "50 but still Hot Stuff" party. Theme it with chilli's and have a "hot" menu. You can use Chili pictures on the invites and decorate as such too. Perhaps even a Mexican theme.
If you want a party game idea, get the toughest guys to have a chili eating contest.
Have a HOT night!
