maybe its best to give girls the princess theme bags and boys something else. or you could try using a unisex theme (both boys and girls)

a bag with pictures of animals on them or something, and a small assortment of candy, and maybe even some small toy animals and baloons.

I'd just get a few extra bags for the boys so they don't feel uncomfortable.. unless they actually prefer the princess bag :p

I think it would be nice to have the boys get their own loot bags.

Well, it might be a little...awkward for a little boy to get a girly-themed bag. You should get them a spiderman theme or something, so they won't feel embarassed going to a girl's party.

I had the same dilema last month for my daughter's 3rd birthday too. I let her choose her theme this year, and she chose My Little Pony. I was thinking, "Great, what am I going to do for the boys' loot bags!" I got lucky and came across Horse party favors. So the girls got My Little Pony loot bags and the boys Horses, it worked out pretty well! You could do something like Hot Wheels for the boys.

Maybe you could get some solid color bags that coordinate with the other colors but still seem more boyish, or at least a little less girly...maybe pale blue, yellow, green, or purple.

Good luck!

Can you not expand your theme to a Disney character theme, and that way, your boys can get Aladdin bags, or Hercules bags or something for them, too. Then you could avoid any gender controversy, and focus on your daughter instead.
