How can I plan a fun "game night" at my home for my women's group?!

Question: I have a women’s group and would like to plan a game night at my home. I am going to require that everyone who attends bring a drink of their choice (alcoholic or non-alcoholic), hors’douvres and/or a game that they like to play whether it be cards, dominoes or board games. I am going to do this on a Saturday and set the time from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. I am planning to have cocktails and hors’douvres from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., then from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. I want to have some sort of game where all the ladies formally introduce themselves and tell the group something interesting about them. I am thinking of creating a short survey. At 9:00 p.m. I want to start playing games. I want to have interactive games such as Outburst, Guesstures, Charades – but I will also have some games like Scrabble and Scattegories.

Don't do scrabble - it is not exciting enough for a group to play at a party. I also wouldn't do any DVD games. You don't want your guests sitting around the tv listening to it. You want them to be listening and interacting with one another.

Some other good adult party games are Apples to Apples and Family Fued.

Some appetizer ideas:
veggies and dip
bruschetta- http://www.recipezaar.com/44232
hummus - either with veggies or pita squares or pita chips
mini- meatballs
finger sandwiches
assorted cheese and crackers
quiche
fried eggplant
stuffed mushrooms
spinach and artichoke dip w/ pita chips

For dessert:
fruit salad
cookies

Keep in mind you are feeding ladies. They are more likely to eat if the food is healthier.

There is nothing wrong with playing music. Just make sure it is not to loud. You don't want people to have shout over the music to talk to one another.

Just find some simple appitizers you can make ahead of time-You don't want to spend all your time in the kitchen. It sounds like you've thought alot about this and have some good ideas.

i don't know the name of songs electric slide / two step it sound like you are going to have fun games see if everyone remember each name

Your time schedule seems wonderful. Have you ever thought about doing Bunko since you have a large group of women. My mom plays Bunko with a bunch of her friends every Saturday night. she seems to have a lot of fun. Although, when she tried to explain it to me it seemed alittle confusing, but I'm sure it would be alot easier to understand if you had the game with you.

Good day,
Sounds like you have the game thing down.
Lets talk food
So everyone brings something, YOU
provide plates, napkins, ice and plastic ware,
have oven on 250 for warming, ice chest for ice
serving wares have table set.
I would have a iced tea and fresh lemons
coffee w/ asst creams
and lg zine wine
keep your snack easy, min quiches
or crab stuffed mushrooms or better yet
boil shrimp de-shelled and iced w/ cocktail sauce.
what ever you do, remember a good host runs a smooth
party, and is not in the kitchen.. so heres to the host w/ the mostess.....
