Dance party help!?!
I'm throwing a dance party! It's semi formal, just for about 40 people or so. I need help with two things:
-Themes - i've thought of a few, like the traditional spring fling and black and white affair, but I'd love more options to choose from.
-Ideas - I just need some more decoration ideas! What would help set the mood?

I've got lots of great ideas for you. After reading them, consider me Best Answer.
For some themes, you can make one be a fairy tale theme. Play music from the Disney movies, and have the guests dress in very royal and fairy tale clohting.
Another theme could be like a decades party. For example, if it was a sixties party, have the guests dress in retro '60s clothes. Like peasant blouses, bellbottom jeans, LOVE beads, tid-dye shirts, lots of peace signs, and maybe use sixities lingo. If you do eightes, play rockin' '80s music, have the guests dress in '80s wear, speak '80s lingo, and have them wear all kinds of eighties clothes.
If you're not interested in the fairy tale or decades idea, do like a underwater thing. Have some flouresent lights set up and maybe try adding something to them to makie a blue tint, and have posters of fish and bodies of water set up. And serve all kind of seafood for the h'orderves. But if people have allergies or stomach situations to seafood (like me) you can serve something that's not seafood for people like them. Have your guests where a lot of blue and stuff.

I think the best idea is a celebrity party. Try having every guest come dressed and in character as a celebrity (but still semi formal). You can decorate with Hollywood stuff from party city of the Internet. I went to one of these parties as Donald Trump and it was so much fun. Take pictures on a red carpet and have fun!
