What should I cook for a Saturday night get-together with my extended family?!

Question: I want to cook something really, really special this coming Saturday, as the whole of my extended family (from my side and my husband's side) will be coming 'round for dinner to meet my 10 month old baby girl, who they havent met in person yet.

I am out of ideas as to what to cook! I need it to be original and fantastic! I usually cook a huge roast whenever someone from the family comes past, but the idea is getting a bit old.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Lasagna - easy enough to make two pans
Garlic Bread
Lettuce Salad

i like chicken stir fry

Make a roast.... do you have a crock pot??? get a huge roast... load it up with carrots, celery and onions. Give it an Asian flair with a bottle of Toasted Sesame dressing that Kraft makes... just don't forget the water as it will get thick. Make smashed potatoes and turkey wraped asparagus!!! yummy... coat your asparagus with a bit of olive oil, fresh garlic and salt and pepper. roll the asparagus with thin sliced smoked turkey exposing the tips. Put them on a sheet tray and bake for 15 minutes on 350... they will love it (make 5 for each guest)

Make it simple :

Salad

Roast chicken

Soup

cat!

i dunno. steak. a pot roast. homemade lasagna.

stuffed chicken breast
stuff them with cream cheese, onion, garlic and thyme leaves
wrap pancetta or bacon around them add a splash of wine about 1/2 cup to the bottom of the roast pan and roast in the oven.

serve with mashed potatoes or potatoes augratin

a salad

and for dessert have a trifle. take a pound cake cut into cubes and make a layer of it at the bottom of a large clear bowl (for effect so you can see the layers!) get some strawberries and hull them and cut into small pieces and add some sugar to them to start to create a syrup (do this 15 minutes or more before you start to make the trifle. make your own whipped cream or buy cool whip and start the layers.
one layer of cake. Next layer strawberries (or whatever berry you like) then whipped cream..and start the layers over..have whipped cream toward the top and finish the layering with fresh strawberries and a sprig of mint.

happy eating!

Try going to costco they have a really good selection of fancy stuff.
