Need some fun ideas for a Sunday afternoon BBQ I'm having in a week...?!

Question: Is horseshoes too cheesy to play? Any other ideas? I was thinking of having a raffle at the end (not where people pay but just pass out tickets as they arrive) and give a prize to the guy and girl I choose. Dumb idea?

Naw, horseshoes is never a bad idea.. Maybe some Volley ball, if you can set up a net.. The raffle is a wonderful idea, If there's some kind of game on tv.. Like baseball, basket ball etc. do a "pool" of some kind so everyone could get in for like a dollar and whoever picks the winning team, wins the money in the pool.. Good Luck..

Bocce is becoming very popular where I live. Any Bocce balls avalable?

Horseshoes are never out of style. It's a very simple game that most everyone can play. The only thing that I suggest is that you shorten the distance of the pegs, and only keep the game to the first one to 5. This will keep the players interested.
Play a mini tournament (round robbin) and give a prize for the winner.

As for door prizes, at first it sounds too old, but belive me, everyone, dispite the age, likes the chance to get a door prize.
But make it a nice prize. Actually give them something that required thought. Lets say a Starbucks Mug and ten dollar gift card. Something that is gender neutral.

Have fun...

Give everyone 5 pegs and have some "key words" they are not allowed to say. If someone catches them out, they get to take a peg and keep it. The person with the most pegs wins. A simple game that doesn't need too much organisation.

Another idea is to have everyone bring a baby photo and have a guessing competition as to who belongs to each photo. This is great fun too.

Horseshoes is a GREAT idea! Maybe have a croquet set too ... And, I think the raffle idea is good too. Sounds like a "Country Fair" type theme, maybe you could have ring-toss games, or bean-bag toss games too:) There are some great line-dance CDs out, and you could do some line dancing too!
