When i go online to get info on catering, none of these sites give me pricing?!

Question: its getting on my nerves that im trying to plan a party and i go online to get info on catering from common places here in town but no one will give any pricing info. i have never done this before. i would like to know how much im spending before i place an order. i went to subway and jimmy johns to get info on sandwich platters. no pricing. i went to my local grocery stores to see if any of them made platters of any sort. nothing. then i went to walmart, dairy queen, baskin robins for cakes, no pricing and not much variety. whats up with this?

i want to put out cold food for my guests for my boyfriends birthday party next weekend. does anyone know what the cost of catering vs making platters myself?

I would call and ask for pricing, you'll find it can be expensive. I found it costs twice as much as just making it myself.
Not sure where you live but our local Subway offers a $5 foot long sandwich and maybe you can order a number of them for takeout and just cut and serve on your on platters.

If you have a Costco or BJ's around that is the least expensive way to go if you don't want to do any prep. They both sell different food platters and cakes.

Not sure what your budget is but it's really easy to prep cold food and serve. Buy a few different breads, sliced cheese and meats from the grocery deli. Then serve along with salad, chips and drinks.

Call them up and ask about pricing
I'm sure they would tell you

cheaper and better to make it yourself.

No they won't they create the need first so you already want it then hit you with the cost when its best for their sale. Standard retail practise. If you ring for a price list they will probably get a sales person to ring you back. Make them your self if you can get friends and family to help. It can be fun and so much cheaper and better.

You'll rarely see pricing for catering because the prices are based on the amount you'll need. So for starters; tally up how many are coming to your event & then call the caters. Caterers price according to quantity of people.
Have fun!

Hello. I am a caterer myself. Where are you located and how many people are you looking to feed. If you are not having many people you can do good with making platters yourself, but some caterers offer prices just for platters that are pretty reasonable.
