I use this website often to help me with ideas for parties. Be sure to have a theme for the housewarming. I find that when you have a theme, it just makes it a lot easier to get things like decorations, invitations, and prizes (for the games).

For centerpieces, use kitchen items. You can put flower arrangements in pots or bowls (you might want to put the flowers in a small tupperware first then in the dish/pot/bowl). Arrange spatulas, whisks, spoons, etc. as the centerpieces for some tables/areas & tools like screwdrivers, wrenches, hammers, paint brushes in other areas. If you are able, let these items serve as your gift! After the party, the guest of honor gets all of the items.
