Child's Party?!

Question: Child's Party!?
I want to do a buffet style meal for my Son's First Holy Communion, but am stuck as to what to include in it!. Was thinking different kinds of salads with Turkey and Beef but being a child's day it won't go down too well and I really would prefer not to do hot food or get in caterers!. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!!Www@FoodAQ@Com

When I had my daughters First Communion we had a cookout, it was during some beautiful weather and it was simple!. I had my immediate family (mom, sister, etc!.) each bring something for me(they are good for that), like a potato salad, macaroni or pasta salad, a toss salad, etc!. We had hot dogs and hamburgers on the grill!. Everyone had something they ate and the kids loved it and it made it easy for everyone to be able to wander and chat with each other rather than something sit down!. I know at our party there were a lot of family that you don't get to see all the time, so having the ability to mingle was nice for me and I didn't have to run around like crazy trying to make sure everything was cooked, etc because the only cooking was the burgers and hot dogs!. Good Luck and it will be a very special day for your family to remember!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Why not do a big thing of sloppy joe's with chips and a couple of pasta salads!? You can keep it warm in a crock pot or roaster!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

My daughters 9 now, so 9 parties later!.!.!.!.

Sandwiches, but simple ones, kids dont do fancy!.

Ham
Cheese
Egg (if he likes it)

Cocktail Sausuages (you buy them cold pre cooked)

Crisps

Sweets

Cakes!.

Biscuits!.

Anything else will sit and be eaten for dinner by dad the next day!. (suits me fine, but not quite usefull for the party)

Hope that helpsWww@FoodAQ@Com

You could do a barbecue - we always loved hamburgers off the grill and chips and Koolaid!. And the adults like that too - or if that's too much work, you could do your original plan with some kid's foods thrown in - fruit salad, chips, black olives, carrots, and then they can have a little sandwich and choose the stuff they want to have with it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I suggest hitting your local supermarket, Costco, or Bj's!. They all have deli trays, shrimp cocktail, cheese and crackers, fruit trays, veggie trays reasonable!. You can make your own salads (I do this because I am picky)!. Another good, really cheap thing is buy those frozen cool aids in a plastic wrap!. We generally don't have these, but during a party with kids they go over great!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
