Graduation party planning...help!?!

Question:

Graduation party planning...help!?

I am pressed to get my graduation party planning started. I would like it to be held the second weekend of June, and I know we need to have a place picked out before my spring break is over this monday. If I could get an outdoor place (like a park pavillion) I would like to do a carribean or hawaiian theme. If not, I may just decorate in my favorite color. I want to keep it more on the casual side, and we will be using caterers. Any ideas/tips for rushed planning?

Answers:
First thing first, get your venue and then your caterer. The longer you wait the less likely you are to get a good one. This is the middle of graduation and wedding season! Try your state park department. Generally they are pretty cheap, but they do book up quickly. Many of them have electricity and grills at the pavillions just in case you can't find a caterer.

Since you are having a casual party check out bbq caterers. Depending on how far you are from NYC you many be able to get a caterer that specializes in carribean or luau food. I live more towards upstate NY now and have used the Big Kahuna catering company. They have a ton of great stuff including all the decorations you need to rent. If you are going to decorate yourself check out orientaltrading.com. The one thing I have to say about them is that their shipping is not as short as they claim. I have ordered from them a few times, and it always takes more than a week.

we did the same thing with my brothers grad party. his was also a casual laid back party. we just decorated with congrats signs and had streamers in his colleges school colors. it was also an open house his friends were invited later on in the day while our parents friend and family was invited during the day. a swimming party with a bond fire is alot of fun. kids can go swimming and parents can mingling around the pool in lounge chairs. a hawiian theme would be nice, everyone could wear leis . check out the dollar store for cheap decorations but you won't be able to get grad decorations until late may early june. also a cheaper/faster way of getting decorations ask friends who have already had their grad party and had leftover decorations. maybe you could share your party with a friend and just spilt the cost of the party. hope that helped if not just email me at heaty011@yahoo.com i have a lot more ideas!

80's theme is good have everyone dressing 80's alfits gives you good conversation and laughs all around but do your favorite color for your decorations cant go wrong good luck
