What type of food do you serve at a 1 year old's birthday party?!

Question:

What type of food do you serve at a 1 year old's birthday party?

I want my baby's first birthday to be special, and although I know he won't know what is going on or what is being served, I want to know what kind of food to have. His birthday is May 31st and we were thinking hot dogs and hamburgers. What do you suggest?

Answers:
If it is hot in your area, you want to stick with simple foods that are light on the stomach. Break out the grill. I would also incorperate some finger foods, or finger sandwiches. baked beans, pickles, and some pasta salad. The usual picnic foods...simple but yummy. Happy Birthday to the little one.

hot dogs and hamburgers are the perfect party and summer time foods, I think you answered it yourself!!

GREAT IDEA!

Be sure to take a lot of pictures! Scrapbook them. and if you dont scrapbook then try! I love doing it and it helps for memories. If you want to know more email me!

that sound great you can also serve sanwiches, fruits

sounds good to me....i was going to say hot dogs because our munchkin loves hot dogs. :)

Hotdogs and Hamburgers are a perfect choice. That is what I had at my sons birthday party. Even a pizza will work.

hot dogs chicken strips dip chips cake

Too much activity will be difficult on the Birthday boy. Keep it very simple. Hold the party after the lunch hour but well before dinner and have a "cake and punch" party. Set out some bowls of chips if you really want something else to offer. With all of the commotion, the baby will get cranky and tired fast! Nothing worse than a cranky birthday baby when trying to get all the wonderful memories on film!

Finger foods are always a big hit with kids and adults. The hot dog and hamburger thing is great. Throw in some finger foods. Fresh veggies with dip (kids love it) and make some hot made popsicles. they are easy and cheap to treat the kids with.

I suggest finger foods u know chicken fingers, fish sticks, french fries,hamburgers,cheeseburgers... of course hot dogs.

Whatever is simplest for mom and dad and appropriate for the ages of the guests. All attention should be on baby anyway!

mozzerella sticks
french fries
chicken fingers
hot dogs
hamburgers
Arrow root cookies
bananas
apple slices

cake, apple sause?, Fruits? any thing soft so it woudn't hurt your babies teeth

Fruit salads, vegetable salads and burgers...

Those ideas all sound great. Please slice the hot dogs so they are not a choking hazard though!

you should make just hambugers

i could never understand why people want big parties for 1 year olds. I'd keep it simple, really.

You might want to serve food for the parents that is good for them to eat and then have fruits and small food to serve for the kids. And have cake.

hot dogs and hamburgers are great ideas.you should also serve what your baby likes to eat.

For you daughters 1st birthday (December 30th) we had mini hamburgers, pulled BBQ pork with mini potato rolls, a cheese display (with mostly Italian cheese, brie), fruit tray (grapes, apples, stuff the kids will eat and PB &J cut out sandwiches. The kids ( age between 1 & 3) ate a little bit of everything but loved the PB & J because of the different shapes. I also had a strawberry spinach salad that everyone loves. Keep it simple. It is really for you because your 1 year old will eat what they normally eat (my daughter has pasta and peas (not on the menu))....

I did go all out on the cake and got her picture on it for the everyone and then I got her an Elmo cake just for her. The pictures are awesome!!!!
