Good Portable Grills?!

Question:

Good Portable Grills?

I'm looking to buy a portable grill. One that I can take to the park/beach. Where cooking chicken, beef, corn, etc. wouldn't be a problem. I would also like one with a decent size grate so that I can cook at least 4 items at once.

All suggestions welcomed. Thanks.

I used to have a portable Weber charcoal grill, the Weber? Go-Anywhere, and it was excellent. Simplicity itself in setup (the legs fold up around the ends of the grill to lock the lid in place), stores in the trunk of the car easily without getting things dirty, and cooks very well. The enamel coating is of good quality and the grill should last a long time.

The venting provides a great deal of control of the temp, and its rectangular grill size makes a convenient use of space for cooking for 2 to 4 people (maybe 6 in a pinch). It goes for about $45.

I don't know what the gas model would be like, but I always liked cooking with charcoal anyway.

Get any grill you want, but stay away from the George Foreman grill, that junk burnt my steaks.

We've got a Coleman Road Trip grill, and I love it. Easy to grill on, easy to clean up, big grilling surface. Watch for sales - I know we only paid about $50 for ours, because it was 60% off at an end-of-summer sale.

We've been using the Weber Q for a couple of years now and absolutely love it. It uses the shell of the grill itself to vaporize the juices that create that grilled taste we all love, so it's very easy to keep clean.

It also works well with the grilling times we get using the cookout calculator at charcoalbob.com. Just enter the details of the items to be grilled and it gives you instructions for how to grill steaks, pork chops, boneless chicken breasts, etc. so that everything comes off the grill at the same time, just the way you want it.

They make the Weber Q in a number of sizes. We have the medium size one and can easily grill 6 NY strip steaks on it at one time. The smaller one is very portable, and should handle 4 items at once with no problem.

There's also an adapter so that you can hook them up to a larger tank of propane if you'll be grilling around home.

Hope this helps.

I suggest going to your local dentist for those =]

We use a Coleman Camping Grill. It has the little propane tank that you screw in. It's not huge, but you can fit four servings of something on it. They also make other portable grills that are good too.
