Does asparagus go with pork loin?!

Question:

Does asparagus go with pork loin?

I want to make my parents dinner when they come into town. I want to serve wine with the dinner and i've already bought the pork loin. Can i serve asparagus with it? what other sides can i make?

Answers:
Yes it would, you could also add some pomegranate seeds to it 10 seconds before pulling it off the heat, great flavor match and color. Egg noodles or spaetzle with dill butter and bacon as a side would work too. Another thing you could try is sauteed fennel with blood oranges. Balance your flavors and you'll be fine...Good luck and have fun. A side note, don't ever saute with extra virgin olive oil, the high heat will destroy it. It only has a smoking point of 250 deg. I recommend using canola (smoke point of 440 deg F. or peanut oil 450 deg. F.) Use extra virgin only for cold dishes like a vinaigrette or to finish off a cooked dish.

good choice. I recommend grilled asparagus.

a potato or rice dish would complete things nicely along with a salad. I would recommend a rice pilaf, or if you are not counting calories, scalloped potatos

I'd make a nice rice pilaf or garlic buttered pasta. Sounds delicious.

Asparagus sounds good. Rice pilaf would be another good side.

Yes! That is the perfect side! My mom always makes it with her Pork Loin. She steams it and sometimes adds shredded carrots to the top, or even sliced almonds. Enjoy!

Asparagus and artichokes will tend to make your wine taste like Sh*t....do a nice little gratin...maybe a veg that's a little milder...brocc. or snap peas are nice....'french ' green beans work too.

i think asparagus sounds great>>some kind of potatoes would be good with it too
good luck with your dinner

yes, asparagus goes. you could make some nice risotto. or couscous. or maybe some scalloped potatos

Asparagus goes well with almost anything. Try a light salad, maybe baby greens with an olive oil vinaigrette with goat cheese and toasted walnuts.

Asparagus will be a very elegant and tasty side!

Sliced red and gold potatoes (with the skins on) seasoned and bakes with olive oil and rosemary.

They'r both gross, so like no.

Yes you can make asparagus with pork you can steam them or saute them in olive oil. I like them sauteed in extra virgin oil, fresh lemon, garlic and some soy sauce, yum.

Apples go nice with pork, you can make a chunky apple sauce, and add some cinnamon.

I don't know what recipe your using for the pork, but, you can add small new potatoes or sweet potato to the pork.

Actually sweet potato mixed with cinnamon and sugar or sugar substitute (I use Splenda) tastes wonderful or if you don't like cinnamon you can use nutmeg, it makes a great side dish.

Any side dish will work. Asparagus is great though!
