What kind of 21st Birthday theme should I do?!

Question:

What kind of 21st Birthday theme should I do?

I am wanting to throw the best 21st birthday parties for one of my best friends. I know that there will be drinking and have thought about all that stuff. My only huge problem is that I have no idea what would be a good theme. I came up with over 30 and I have limited it down to about 6. I just can't figure out which one to do. I've asked her (even though I don't want her to know about it) what she would like and she hasn't helped me much. I started thinking about combining a couple, but I don't want it to be too much contrast because I want people to dress up too. My themes are down to: Pirates, Prom, Fiesta, Western, Blk/Wht, Luau, and Toga. Then I thought maybe I could put them together by making it a Jimmy Buffett party with Pirates and a Luau or Fiesta. I just don't know. How can I achieve what I want?

Answers:
You should ask yourself which theme your guests are most likely to participate in. It's always more fun when everyone gets into the theme. Would your friends dress up like pirates? Do your girlfriends really want to wear prom dresses all night and will the guys wear tuxes? Do you have stuff around your house that you can use for any of the themes? One of the best theme parties I ever went to was a "red dress party". Everyone had to wear a red dress to get in - guys and girls. And the guys who threw the party had extra red dresses that they bought at the resale shop for anyone who didn't dress up. It was pretty funny to see all the guys dressed up and all girls looked really cute, so the guys didn't mind that much. Sounds like a weird theme, but everyone participated and it ended up being a good time for everyone.

do a hawian one most people get into it an you can find so many props cheep esp if it is in the summer

One with lots of boozes!

Don't do black and white. It sounds racist.

do a sparkly one!!! you could have a disco ball, a sequin dress, and glittery cups and confetti lol if that doesn't work try a pirate party! my sister had one and everyone dressed in costume you can almost find any theme at Party city! have fun ;]

i think a fiesta theme would be fun and very easy to put together ,,have fajitas, salsa and chips rice and beans etc have a Mexican hat dance and do the limbo stick that is really fun with a lot of people,,have everyone dress up Mexican for it like a costume party get a pinata fill it with goodies,,make margaritas and sangria and have dos ekes or Corona beer get mariachi band to play or just go to walmart and get a few Cd's

I am partial to luau....but i'm liking the jimmy buffet thing too. If you could put those together like you said. If you can do bathing suits, lais, buffet music, tiki candles, limbo, it would be cool if you could get a bubble machine they are fairly cheap ...like 30 bucks you can get them at party stores, I don't know how much mula you want to spend but you could maybe pay a friend 100 bucks to cook food on the grill throughout the party. And a friend to do some bartending. Have alot of fruit spread around. pineapples, bananas it would help with the atmosphere.

Have a black jack "21" themed party with a blackjack table and dealer.

get some beer signs & put all over
or cut out some out of magazines & put on wall
Get some diffrent wines & Shot glasses, Have all taste the wines, like a wine party, My cousin thought of these ideas for her friends 21 st birthday party. weird but loads of fun, also get bunch of balloons that says happy birthday, blow them up & let everyone stomp on them, while music is playing, Weird huh? again her ideas, not mine, & they had a Blast. Have fun & good luck.
