How do I make a dance floor for a party like Saturday Night Fever?!

Question:

How do I make a dance floor for a party like Saturday Night Fever?

I am in charge of a Disco party for my Uncle's 50th Birthday. I want to have a colorful square dance floor like on the movie. However, I cannot paint the floor or afford anything that would really light up. HELP.

Answers:
you need a raised dance floor so you can add any lighting and some type of translucent or semi-opaque floor.

For lighting... you can try using glow sticks although the won't last long, but the mirrored ceiling ball, strobe light should fill in the rest.

However, it sounds like you're on a budget and it would be expensive to create a dance floor.

I suggest focusing on the DJ and the ceiling lights.
You can run string lights along the border of your dance floor just to give it a little lighting.

Well, make things from what you have around the house =]

If you want to make a disco ball *be carefull have an adult* take some cds that are odl or you dont want anymore, break them, and glue them into a *ball* and hang up

if you want something funky put feathers, take old junk you have around and make things out of it

bets of luck

It will depend on your budget, of course, but a few sheets of plywood covered with a remnant of linoleum or inexpensive self-adhesive floor 'tiles' in a wood grain would do the trick.

Go dark and use ultraviolet lights and stickers for the whole disco feel.

If you have a 'budget', you might look into laminate flooring. The newsest ones snap together... no glue or nails at all, and can be unsnapped at the end of the evening. A little pricier perhaps, but if you're gonna dance!...Dance!

Best wishes!
