For my sweet 16, Im having a party with my friends and dinner with my family- how do I make it '50's'?!
I am having a pool party at my house the day of my birthday (thursday) and then a dinner with some family that night or that weekend!. I want to make at least the party themed with the 1950s, but I dont want to make too big a deal of the theme!. Do you think I should make the dinner with my family 50s too!? & what kind of decorations, games, clothes etc!. do you suggest for my party!? Or do you think I should just give up on the theme!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

you'd need bathing suits that cover more, but are still two pieces, so like a tankini with boy cut bottoms, big sunglasses, and big hats, (You don't want to burn)
Hair styles were mostly curled back then, like you see on Marilyn Monroe, back when she was still Norama Jean (you should google her and look at some of her pin ups)
I'd try finding a nice tea lenght cocktail dress with a cinched waist and a black sweater (check in J!.C!. Penny's that's where i found mine!. and it's prom season so you might find a few good ones for cheap)
You need pearls, they can be fake, but if you've got a real string that's nice too!. Not too long, they're an accent piece!.
Games- see if you could find salt water taffy and have a taffy pull!. hula hoops were just coming out and they had contest to see who could hoop the most, jump rope contest were big (at least with my grandmother) and chardes mostly family or inclusive games!.

Great theme, easy to do, plenty of choices!. Skirts and scarfs for the girls, T's and jeans with cuffs for the boys!. Have a sock- hop, play limbo and spin the bottle!. Go rollerskating!. Serve burgers, fries and shakes!. plenty of music to download or copy!. Got a drive-in movie near by!?Www@FoodAQ@Com
