What education do you need to become a party/wedding planner?
Answers:
There is no set education criteria to be a party/wedding/event coordinator.
you just need a good head on your shoulders, some common sense and be good at multitasking. also its good if you know how to handle emergency situation because anything can and will go wrong at any time.
you'll need good refrence
As with any profession that does not require a degree, a party / wedding planner should have a mentor and connections.
You will need to have a few venues that will be willing to allow you preference. Some places have never been approached, and would like to have a little extra cash for an otherwise empty building, if you can assure that the place will be left in the same shape as when you first occupy it.
Do you know several entertainers in the area that will work with you? Bands, DJ's and string quartets are only a few of the entertainment types needed.
You either have to cater yourself, or combine with someone that is willing to work with you. And florists in the area once you have an assignment (usually from a friend or relative), will be more than happy to assist.
Then you have to work on the ministers for the service. A lot to think of, but it's all about connections. Create a portfolio when you have some businesses that are willing to work with you. It will open the door to more business.

A degree in hospitality management would take you a long way. My best advice would be to gain some practical experience by working as an administrative assistant to a certified wedding planner. You would learn so much about the business and discover if the field is something you would really enjoy.
