Party gifts?!

Question:

Party gifts?

ok so im having this dedication cermony from my daughter "christening" my grandmother is telling me to tell poeple they shouldent bring a gift seeing as most of the poeple who i am inviting have already giveing me gifts for the baby shower and the birth. please give me your input.

Answers:
When our family have christenings and we have a little reception, our relatives usually give the child a cross for their room, maybe some cross earrings, a religious medal, a baby blanket with a cross on it, a guardian angel plaque or something of that nature.
The baby shower is a different type of celebration.
It is only polite to bring something to the christening but you shouldn't mention anything about gifts in the invitation. I would leave it up to the individual as some people may not be able to afford another gift.

They can if they really want to, but imply that its not necessary. Though you would probably very much appreciate it.
