Does anyone have any ideas for how to decorate a cake for a christening?!

Question:

Does anyone have any ideas for how to decorate a cake for a christening?

My niece is being christened on Sat. May 26th and afterwords there will be a dinner at the home of my sister's in-laws. My sister has asked me to bake and decorate a cake for the occasion and I am not sure what to decoarate it with. (This is MUCH easier to bake a cake for a b-day party--where there is a theme)

Answers:
I think you should bake a cake and cover it with white icing, then decorate it whit a baby theme.

Here are some websites that maybe you can get some ideas from:

http://www.madelines.net/images/gallery/...
http://www.jennys-cakes.com/images/celeb...
http://www.cakesbyann.co.uk/christenings...

They have very nice cakes that can be duplicated, and still look nice. You can use their decorating ideas. :)
Good luck and happy christening to your niece (if that makes any sense) :)

like a cross

HAPPY CHRISTENING DAY?

I would make a 2 layer round white or chocolate cake and frost w/Duncan Hines whipped white frosting. I would then toast coconut and place around the sides of the cake. If your guests don't like coconut, substitute chopped, toasted pecans or walnuts to decorate the sides. I would not put any decoration on the top. It will look clean, simple and elegant.

I usually do the shape of a cross, with roses draped across the cake where it connects. Sometimes I just do the shape of a cross made of baby roses on top of a 1/4 or 1/2 sheet cake.

Ice the cake white. using decorating icing(also white daraw a big cross. Coat the cross with silver or gold EDIBLE glitter. Find a verse of the bible that pretains tto a child and pick a line that would fit and be easy to write and write it on!

I would decorate a half slab or full slab, depending on how many are attending, lemon pound cake or white cake or golden cake even a cherry confetti cake might be cute, for a girl...with some white frosting, putting some pale pink rosettes and a few dragees with a really sweet quote...

if you like biblical quotes, and have a deft hand at frosting writing...you could do all or part of a bible verse......the best idea might to run it by the parents to see which quote they like...check out adorable announcements for more quotes, if you like...

May the Lord give His angels
charge over you, to guide you
in all your ways.
Psalm 91:11

or

A child is a precious gift from God
and baptism is God's gift wrapping

or

On this day we place our child in
God's care forevermore

This is a very traditional look, not very intricate...but the effect is beautiful...the pale pink rosettes would be just enough, I think...

A really clean and simple outside would be great. I suggest a butter cream. The inside should be a favorite of many. A simple, but elegant vanilla bean is tasty and beautiful!
