How do you tell your guests on the invitation to wear a certain color to match the colors of the party?!

Question: How do you tell your guests on the invitation to wear a certain color to match the colors of the party!?
Is it rude to ask them to wear certain colors!?
Im still debating on if i should have people dress accordingly to the color theme!. My party colors are white and all different purple colors!. My dress is dark purple and everything about the party is white and purple/lavender from the invitations to the reply cards to seating cards and table numbers!. also the centerpieces are going to be purple flowers!. So a few people suggested to me to have everyone match because it will look good with pictures!. But i dont know!.!. what do you think!? is it an ok idea!? and if so, how do I write to wear white and different colors of purple on the invitation!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
State on your inviations for your guests to join you at your "Purple Party" and suggest that they wear something purple - a corsage, a hat, really wild shoes - and white!.

Or, instead of requesting a color, provide a simple accessory in purple that you will give to everyone when they arrive!.

Before the party, go to a fabric store and buy a length of purple satin, velvet, lame or tulle - whatever strikes your fancy, and have it cut into 8"-12" widths about 36" long or so!. That way, you can give everyone a purple scarf - which can become a head wrap, scarf, tie, belt or just about anything!.

Or look in a party supply store where they have their solid color items and see if there is anything interesting there that you can use - silly sunglasses, leis, hats, wigs - whatever!. Provide an item for everyone to wear when you take the group pictures - this sounds like it could be a lot of fun!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I wouldn't!.
Alot of people would have to go and buy new clothes( maybe some can't afford it)!.
That may lead to several cancellations
White is OK ( I think everyone has white),
but purple!?

Parties are more fun when you come according to what you have that you think you look best in!.
It sets a more comfy mood!.
Whats more important!?
A good time or a color scheme!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

If you put it forth as a requirement, it will seem overbearing!. I would put a note on the invitation saying something to the effect that it is white and purple themed, and let people draw there own conclusions!. (Although you might end up with several gifts of white wine!.!.!.)Www@FoodAQ@Com

no thats deff not rude, plus its your party, and you can write whatever you want on your invitations!.

and that sounds like a really cute idea, go for it!

: )

just write that you are having a purple and white party, and tell people to dress accordingly!.

hope i helped, good luck!
+ have fun at your party!Www@FoodAQ@Com

I would just call it a "White and Purple" party!. Mention on the invites that everyone should be wearing white and purple!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Ask them to wear white or purple!. Everyone will atleast have one of the colors, maybe not both!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

i would just put
dress: white and purple
along with everything else like time etc
hope i was helpfull :)Www@FoodAQ@Com

It's my Birthday!
The Color theme is purples and white!
Join me in wearing these colors
to complete my very special night!
Please this is so very important to me!
These colors to wear, both you and me!

Or, just write out your invites and tell them how hard you worked to make it a purple and white theme and that you'd LOVE it if everyone could dress in a tone of purple/lilac and/or white!. It's not what you say, but how you say it, and if you're really nice and sweet about it, more people will be apt to do it!. There are a few I'm sure that are going to do what they want, and it has NOTHING to do with you it has to do with them, that they feel they dress they way they want and they shouldn't have to match a room!. I DO hope that does NOT happen, but if it does, do NOT let them ruin your night, they are the ones that are going to stand out!!

It's My Birthday in Purple and White!
Please join me in celebrating this special night!
We'll dress in shades of purple and white
To Complete my theme through the night!

I hope these ideas help and that you have a very Happy Birthday!Www@FoodAQ@Com
