Any possibility that you may need planning permission?
It may be wise to check with your planning department before going to a lot of expense; the last thing you want it to pay out a lot of cash and energy to have someone come and shut it down almost before you get started.

i would rent a progetor and follow your idea.

Wow this sounds like an amazing idea-almost like an art installation. Hmmm it would be pretty cool if u did hire a projector and got some people to move about infront of it so all u cud see were the shadows of the people moving. Like a live performance art piece. That might entertain people. There was this projection once in Huddersfield when I was a Fine Art student and I got me and my mate to stand infront of it and took pictures and they looked ace. Good luck i wish i was coming!

you might have to check if you need permission, drivers could get distracted and cause an accident if they could see it from the road - the council once stopped us having a kids bouncy castle in the front garden for this reason....

I did that for a garden party of mine, though we already have a projector. (great for watching films on - the tv screen is 5' wide)

We had it connected to the computer showing a slide show of photographs taken over the years - and it was projected on to a white bed sheet tied tight between the windows.

Dont know about hiring one, but you can buy projectors fairly cheaply now if you shop around.

Why on earth would you want to illuminate your own home?
