Graduation party for 100, how do you calculate how much food to buy?!

Question:

Graduation party for 100, how do you calculate how much food to buy?

planning on chicken, bbq, potatoe salad, baked beans, deserts

Answers:
decide on menu and portion sizes and add 'em up. Another factor is how long is the event and how long will the food be available (second and third helpings if the food will be out all day, 6+hours) Some familys are bigger eaters then others. I would guess avg 2 pieces of chicken per person per serving, 3/4 c of beans, 3/4-1 cup potato salad, etc.

i say if its bbq chicken say two pieces for person so by 200 pieces of all different parts and potato salad its mat of 20 pounds and baked beans 20 pounds and desserts i say tripple of everything u make

When I was catering for parties I planned two pieces of chicken,1/2 pound of other meat/1/2 ppound on salads, two pieces of bread. Depends on your desert but figure 1 piece of cake or 4-6 oz of anything simialr to ice cream. Depends also on whether they are adults or kids. The ideas I gace you is more for adults. If you are going to have snacks youo could probably cut back a little but stay with2 pcs chicken. a lot of people pick throughoout the party on chicken. If it is hot dogs and burgers they will be used more for the kids.

u need at least 20 lbs potato salad,20 lbs baked beans, depending on the chicken,if its fresh or frozen at least 100 pieces of chicken, that will give each person 1 piece each, for the dessert,go with fresh fruit such as watermelon, grapes,or even ice cream. good luck, and have a wonderful time, barb
