Seventies Theme party deas! Turning 30! Born in 1977?!

Question:

Seventies Theme party deas! Turning 30! Born in 1977?

Hi I am turning 30 on August 25, 2007 and we are doing a seventies theme party and I need help with ideas for decorations, food, activities, etc. Any advice would be appreciated! My Husbands birthday is also in August on the 22nd, so we are combining and doing a general 70's theme because he was born in 1975! So the later 70's is the way we are headed for the party! Thanks in advance!

For my hubby's 70's b-day party I made a disco ball pinata. We had people dress up in 70's clothes and gave away our decorations as prizes. We decorated with lava lamps, velvet posters, bead curtains, etc... and of course you have to serve fondue!

To make the pinata get a punching balloon (check out walmart, target, or a dollar store) and cover it with paper mache http://www.kinderart.com/sculpture/pinat...
paint it black and then glue squares of shiny silver paper all over it. Fill with 70's candy and toys (like pop rocks and mini rubix cubes).

My hubby also made a 70's slide show on his laptop with lots of 70's music.that just played continuously through the party.

How about a disco theme? That was in the 70s. Remember the disco ball that turns and sends sparkles everywhere. My husband's b-day is also 8/25. Good luck and happy birthday, in advance.

70's sounds a great idea i'm 30 on the 18-8-07 and just having a colour theme for my party "red".

The theme could be 70's tv shows, recording artists, and or movies. Have people dress accordingly and have games centered around the same theme. Games: Name That Tune or band--all seventies songs. Match Game. Or play more current games with all seventies trivia. Win, lose, or draw.

Seventies dance contest. Don't forget the disco ball.

And if someone shows up in a velour v-neck shirt, they get bonus points.

1. Disco music, mirror ball, lava lamps, incense
2. Bell bottoms and platform shoes...think Saturday Night Fever...and feathery Farah Fawcett hair
3. Serve fondue, Lipton onion dip & chips, ham and cheese on Ritz crackers, quiche, shish k bobs
4. Use the colors of the 70s; orange, yellow, brown and definitely the ever-addictive split-pea-green. Hang bead curtains in doorways, and use bean bag chairs.
5. Have guests make their own pet rocks, using smooth river rocks and tempra paints.

Wow the 70's were there themes then? Disco was popular you know the bee gee's, donna summer, and flared pants. That would be kinda cool have a disco ball on the dance floor and play the saturday night fever movie....

Go retro and find a mobile. Or you could rent a bar and tell them the specifics or the theme and they can do the rest of the decorating for you. Make all your guests wear retro and specify that on the invitations. And also serve drinks on colorful paper cups. Use house music since 70's music are kind of outdated already. Have a great birthday party!

happy birthday!
watch an episode of that seventie′s show to get ideas for clothes!
yes,think sat night fever.
also serve dips loaded with cholesterol-no diet anything!
deviled eggs
that type of food
as for drinks i do not know what was the fashonable drink then!

Hey, I'm having a 30th Disco party in July. My theme is Studio 54 {opened April 1977 in NYC} I have created an invite in powerpoint with 3 slides, first with studio 54 annd disco ball border, 2nd slide with my name below name a spinning disco ball and flashing dancefloor-copied and paste from studio 54 site, 3rd slide with VIP studio 54 admission and studio 54 VIP drinkingpasses - from windows live studio 54. I also added a disco track that plays thru out the slide.

For decorations go to www.thepartypeople.com.au they have backdrops and plates etc.

Rather than hire disco lights u can buy them real cheap from ebay. If unable to purchase just buy spray paint and spray swirls on a big piece of cardboard. Purchase disco balls from $2 shop, cover lights with colourful celephane paper.
Also check out spotlight for some cheap fluro 70 style material to hang around house or over furniture. Play 70s videos in background.
If u want a underlit dancefloor st Kilda rd hires them for $950 or cheaper place in city for $600. That will be a winner at the party.
