Answers:
Make your cake look like a swimming pool (or area of water), with palm trees on the corners and use candy to decorate it. Also give away any Barbiedoll in a bathing suit as party favors. Perhaps make non-alcoholic pina coladas or strawberry slushes and serve in half coconuts.....Hmmmm download beach music....do the Limba Rock (sp?) You must have the little paper umbrellas in their drinks :) Sunglasses and Surfboards and seashells.....Maybe picture frames made out of seashells .... good luck!

I'd suggest giving yourself a break and buying leis and a grass skirt at a party store. Maybe make a special lei for your daughter, but no one else is going to "treasure" theirs; it will just be another party favor cluttering up their home.

You can also buy paper lanterns cheap at Pier One or party stores.

Play Hawaiian music, and maybe have hula lessons. You can find a teen or yourself to make up a hula dance and teach to the girls.

Be sure and serve some kind of pineapple, whether fresh or juice!

I don't know how far you want to go but how about drinking out of coconuts? put orchids floating in the pool. have the kids make there own lei's as a party game

For recipes I would go to www.food.com

Hawaiian decor --anything from palm trees, pineapples, roasted pig (or you can have the real thing, main event of the buffet!!). Oh and don't forget those little umbrellas for each drink you hand out, even if it's just four seasons juice.
Try to watch drew barrymore and adam sandler's "50 first dates" for inpiration. =)

I had a similar party for my daughter when she was younger. I took tiki torches and the "fishing net" you buy in the party store and made a volleyball net out of it. I had two parents hold the net, but you could stake it if you needed to.

I made water balloons from the large 10 inch ballons, and used them for volleyballs. The children were put into teams and given a big beach towel. They had to throw and catch the balloons with the beach towel. I ended up having to make MORE ballons, since the kids loved it so much.

Lots of fruit... pineapple and watermelon and drink out of coconut cups!

make sure to have the table covered in litle flowers and fruit. Also they have cute cheap stuff at oriental trading.
Almost everything in that magazine is hawain, wow.

drink frm coconuts. put a straw n a paper umbrella in it.make garlands for evry1 to wear around the neck.
