Are Styrofoam cups and plates recyclable?!

Question:

Are Styrofoam cups and plates recyclable?

Can those disposable dishes you use at partied be recycled?

Answers:
Real styrofoam is made from polystyrene and is not recyclable or biodegradable however, most manufacturers have switched to a corn-based product that looks, feels, and insulates just like styrofoam, but is completely recyclable and biodegradable.

No, you cannot recycle styrofoam.

of course

Not by any method I know of. Perhaps they can but it is just not economically viable. Amounts to the same thing. That's why McDonalds went to cardboard containers for their burgers(well here they did anyway, don't know about worldwide).

No, no, no! Styrofoam will be around for the next millenium!

Yes, but the process is not economically feasible as are many of the other items we are prompted to recycle. some times it just costs more than its worth.

No, they are not biodegradable, therefore they cannot be recycled.

Nooooooo styrofoam cannot be recycled. I'm pretty sure that the other plastic dishes are not as well. Check with your local recycling center about them, just to be sure.

Just look on the packaging, or even on individual plates or cups. It will say on there or will have the recycle logo.
