Can anyone recommend really nice small dainty snacks for a tea party?!

Question:

Can anyone recommend really nice small dainty snacks for a tea party?

I'm putting on a tea party for about 50 people, and I was wondering what to serve. I've thought of scones, sandwiches, and maybe tea cakes. anything else I should have?

Answers:
I think you have it covered. Maybe a fruit salad... If you look in the cracker aisle in the store - you should see little cups (like a pie crust shape) made out of phyllo dough. You can fill these with flavored cream cheeses. Whip the cream cheese to make ot light and fluffy and fill using a pastry bag and tip. Something like a salmon flavored will work best.

Here are a couple of easy ideas/recipes that I've used when I did catering...

Easy Tea Cookies:
1 cake mix (use the lemon/orange/strawberry flavored cakes)
1 egg
1 stick of butter - softened.
Mix together and bake at 375 degrees for 8-10 minutes

Easy open faced roast beef tea sandwiches:
Hearty Rye bread - thinly sliced
Thinly sliced deli roast beef
Thinly sliced horseradish cheddar cheese from deli
French onion chip dip
Toast bread, spread dip one side of bread, layer beef and then cheese on top. Stick undr broiler long enough to melt cheese - cut diagonally to form toast points.

Using the flavored cream cheeses you can make other easy tea sandwiches. Use cookie cutters to make interesting shapes. For example, wheat bread or mini bagels and a salmon cream cheese spread, or a cinnamon bread with a honey walnut cream cheese.

some sort of cookie maybe

Stuffed mushrooms

Check out the link below for some ideas. I've used a lot of these recipes, they are all pretty easy and very tasty!

Egg salad sandwiches or cucumber sandwiches. I have also taken slices of meat( lunch meat) and placed a slice of cheese on it and rolled it up and placed a tooth pick into it to hold it. Lay the rolled finger food on a tray lined with lettuce. You can actually place a salad in the center of the meat if you arrange in a circle. Women love sandwiches with out the bread especially if they are watching their weight. Have Fun!!

cucumber sandwhiches, strawberry shortcakes. maybe homemade sorbet

I would serve cucumber sandwiches, four triangles cut out of a sandwich, maybe some type of salad type sandwich, crab, egg, ham or chicken served on small dollar dinner rolls, petite fours, some fresh fruit with dip, whipped topping mixed with marshmellow cream and cinnamon to taste, maybe small quiches, available from Schwans foods or available at a Wal-mart type discount store. I guess it all depends on how much work and time you have. Good luck and have fun!!!

volavents, cucumber and cress sandwiches, pineapple and cheese sticks, choux pastries

cream puffs or cucumber sandwiches and lemon poppy seed mini muffins.

When you finish your assortment it could look like this:
