You can serve the following food:-
Dips
Avocado - Tuna - Blue Cheese - Olive with raw veg such as celery and carrots to dip in.Also you can served water biscuits for these.
Cheeses
Buy some different type of cheeses and garnish them with red and white grapes, you should cut some french stick bread.
Couscous also is good mix with shrimps, tuna or to your liking.
Potato Salad
Green Salad
Some pasta dishes may with bacon, fresh cream and mushrooms.
Meat (as being winter)
Cook a piece of roast beef and cut it into slices (Calculate size depending on how many people you are going to have)
Cook a piece of pork and slice also.
Place on a nice try and garnish with tomatoes.
Breaded Chicken preferably done from chicken breast or otherwise small drumsticks will do fine.
For dessert you can serve a dark chocolate cake and coffee and tea.
As regards to drink make sure you have water, soft drinks, beer and red & white wine. (If you know what your guests drink its much better)
If you would like any recipes let me know
I find that like Snack crackers, variety of sliced cheese, like cheddar, colby jack, swiss, ect..., sliced up salami, pepperoni, summer sausage., (No pun intended) work really well, as well with a veggie tray, and a friut tray, it keeps it simple. and of course cocktails, or waters, depends on who is driving.
This went over very well when I hosted my party.
finger food, fish balls, chicken balls, meat balls, cheese, garden fresh salads, and tropical fruit juice
This was really popular back in the seventies, but if you want 'pleasure' try fondue. There is something about it that makes it feel extremely decadent.
You can serve savouries with cheese fondue, and fruit or other sweets with chocolate fondue. There are so many recipes with variations, eg cheese and chive, chocolate & baileys.
You can pick up fondue sets at really reasonable prices from any homewares store.
I'm in Aus too - and the idea of warm melted cheese and chocolate (not at the same time! lol) in the cold weather just makes my mouth water!
Have a great party!
try to get some lebanese pastries the ones with cheese zaatar spinas everybody loves them
well you could have;
Candy
Bread
Salsa
Chips
Cheese Dip
Carrots
Pretzel
I'd think you'd want to go with sensual finger foods. Think of things that might be a bit gooey!
Shrimp cocktail
Chips and salsa
Guacamole (if you can find avacado in the winter in Aus!)
Vegetables and dip
Fondue
In the US, we have a product called "Chocolate Body Paint" which would be fun. If you can't find it, you could always make some chocolate sauce and label it that way!
Have fun - play safe.
