Does anyone have forfeits when having a fondue?!

Question:

Does anyone have forfeits when having a fondue?

I read in an old 70's fondue recipe book that it was normal to have a forfeit if you drop something in the pot, like buy the hostess a bottle of wine or host the next party. Anyone else heard of this and if so what forfeits do you use?

I have absolutely no idea but I love the sound of your question, it has two of my favourite words in it...fondue and forfeit....wicked!

I read that the women have to give all the guys at the table a kiss and the men have to buy the next round (I guess if you are having it at home that would mean the next bottle of wine)

Interesting question. Sounds like a fun idea for a fondue gathering. I wouldn't do it if it's served as an appetizer though, because people are then casually coming and going to and from the fondue dish. I'd do that when it's part of a sit-down dinner or dessert, where a group of people are gathered around the table to enjoy the meal.

I love fondue dinners. It's such a nice time to socialize because it's sort of a slow, casual way to eat a meal... little bits at a time while something cooks in the oil. Gives people time to talk, and discuss all the different foods and sauces being used.

hmmm... time for a fondue party. Thanks for the idea. I'm going to think about that forfeit idea too.

We had forfeits and it was a strip system. Drop something in the pot and off comes a garment. As the meal takes a long time then we drank a lot of wine and our hands were increasingly unsteady and more and more was dropped. The girls, 4 of them were actually sitting naked well before the lads and they loved it. We carried on until we were all naked and well we then played true, dare command and promise. One of the best night ever.

I heard about a kiss if you drop something in the pot.

no

my family did me a fondue party for my 18th birthday, we all wrote down ideas for forfeits on a peice of paper at the beginning, that way there's some variety and the naughtiness of the forfeits depends entirely on what kind of crowd you have coming. we ended up with everything from eating a teaspoon of hot sauce to running down the road in our underwear! have fun!
