Since it's Texas, barbeque would be classic!. You didn't say how many people would be coming to the party, though!. If you are going to have a lot of people, grilled chicken or hamburgers and hotdogs would be good!. If you want something a little nicer, you could have ham!.

Since it has been so long since they have been together, you also didn't indicate how often they get to see each other, you could put together a scrapbook for his parents of your husband's birthdays and special occassions they could take back with them!.

I threw my husband a 50th birthday party and didn't have a very large budget, but on each table I put some of his favorite snacks - chocolate oatmeal cookies, tootsie rolls, animal crackers and peanuts!. I also had a photo of him transferred to a cake - perhaps you could get one of your husband and his parents when he was little!?

Have fun!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Most importantly, base your party's theme around some hobby or activity your husband enjoys!.
a cookout would be great!.
you could do a barbq with a couple of choices of meats such as rib, chicken, wings, boston butt, brisket, pork tenderloin!.
or something simple like hamburgers and smoked sausages, or even tex-mex!.
if you like seafood go for grilled shrimp and crabcakes, or do a shrimp boil with potatoes and corn and veggies!.
for an extra special touch grill steaks and have toppings such as crabmeat or mushrooms!.
sides will depend on your meats!. you could do cowboy-style baked beans, chili, macaroni and cheese, baked potato wedges, grits, corn fritters, boiled new potatoes with green beans, coleslaw, potato salad, pasta salad!.
and of course lots of cold drinks!
have a great time!Www@FoodAQ@Com

What about a nice family BBQ!? Or maybe a catered garden party!. If your looking for a party inside maybe get some mini party food (cakes, sandwiches, biscuits etc!.!. be creative, there will probably be lots of ideas if you search party food on google) and maybe a karaoke for entertainment or something!.

The touches that would make it extra special are the ones that are most personal and thoughtful!.

Happy bday to your husband and I hope you all have a wonderful time!. Good luck =)Www@FoodAQ@Com

When my family gets together I always want to make something that is easy so we can spend more time together and less time cooking!. A great idea is to take a pork tenderloin or roast beef and put it in your crock pot with a little water for 8-10 hrs!. After about 6-7 hrs, shred the meat with a fork, add your favorite BBQ sauce and let continue to cook for 2-4 hrs!. Serve with buns (fresh ones from the bakery are always good), corn on the cob, chips and coleslaw-we use the prepackaged cabbage mix and add slaw mix (found near the mayo)!. Add a store bought apple pie or brownies with ice cream!. This is a great summertime meal that everyone is sure to enjoy!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Texas BBQ seems perfect !.!.!. You can even get it from Dickie's, if you don't want to cook!. Do-it-Yourself Sundaes are always good (especially if you have, or can borrow, an ice cream maker)!.
