Time of day for BBQ?!

Question:

Time of day for BBQ?

We're hosting our first backyard BBQ in late June. I have no idea what time we should list on the invites! We thought 3PM, but maybe that's too early?? Any thoughts...

Answers:
I would start it at like 2:00- 2:30 if it has a set time when everyine leaves, but if ur just going to let the party end when it ends then maybe 3:00 would be good

Hope i helped

Depends how hot it is in your part of the country. Here in Houston, because of the heat/humidity, we serve BBQ for dinner at 6 pm or later. Anytime between 11 am and 7 pm is considered a "good" time for cooking/serving BBQ.

not early at all- assuming its the weekend and people would be out of work by then or off for the day. its a good time because people will be in between meals.

I think 3 PM is fine.

how about 5PM?

Depends on on how hot it is and the weather forcast and as for the time of day I would either have it the evening or the afternoon would be the best time

I think 3ish or anytime thereafter is fine. Of course, you don't want the cookout to start any earlier than 3. Trust me, you will be prepping and everything else from the time that you wakeup! :-) I have a friend that throws a cookout everyyear and they call it "Smithfest" (for example, their last name) and they do their famous "spit roasted chicken" etc.... we bring a dish to pass and people are forever coming and going like clockwork. 3pm is perfect! Have fun!

You are serving a meal to guests. Too early and folks will still be full from lunch; too late and everyone will be starved.

Use the same guidelines for time as you would for any dinner party. Make the invitation for 6 pm so everyone can mingle before dinner. Have hors d'oeuvres, vegetable trays, fruit trays [choose or all] and plan the main meal about 7:00-7:30.

just put on the invite, "show up early if you want to help, and don't be late 'coz it's gonna be so good it might be gone!"

definitely 5 b/c people won't like to eat between meals. personally i like the cooler weather and the proximity to dinner so 5 is the best!

you can start about 11:00am to get everything set up and thawed out get some barrels and put cold drinks in it so they stay cold then start cooking about 12:00pm afternoon then go for there have fun

No, three pm is too early.
6pm is perfect timing!

ribs garlic bread baked bean corn cob

If the food will be done at 3 yes it will be too early. But if it will be cooked after they get there, then no.When they get there then you start to cook it will nice to have some appetizers for them to nibble on.

i would wait till about 4pm to have your party but start cooking out till about 4:30.
