tomato sauce is tomato sauce, and ketchup is ketchup!. 2 different products, used for different things!. Ketchup is much thicker, and a little vinegary, to use as a condiment!. Tomato sauce (and paste) is purer tomato, and used in cooking!.!.!.!. So, YOUR country would just call ketchup, tomato sauce, crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, and tomato puree ALL tomato sauce, since they contain the sauce from tomatoes!? Surely you must have a different word for those little cans of tomato sauce!. And what about the small cans of tomato paste!? (the really thick concentrated tomato)!.

I'm from Canada & actually we call it ketchup!.!. Americans call it katsup!.!. pronounced the same way just spelled different!. Why!.!. I think it's because we call pasta sauce tomato sauce, the word ketchup has actually been around for hundreds of years, there was even a "ketchup" made from mushrooms back in the day(no tomatoes added)Www@FoodAQ@Com

tomato sauce and catsup are two different things entirely, tomato sauce is simply the sauce of the tomato, catsup, by the way that is the correct spelling, not the way you spelled it, is tomato sauce, cooked till its thick, with vinegar, sugar, salt, and spices among other things added, that is the difference between plain old tomato sauce and catsup!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

tomato sauce is sold as a different item altogether!.!. its cooked down pureed tomatoes, with maybe some salt added, but thats about it!.!.
