How much food should I have to feed a party of 75 to 100 people?!

Question:

How much food should I have to feed a party of 75 to 100 people?

I am expecting about that many people for a summer time outside babyshower. I need help with a menu and how much for that many people

Answers:
For a babyshower you are certainly not expected to purchase meals for all of the guests.

If it were me, this is what I would do:

5 Gallons of OJ
5 Bottles of Champagne

To make Mamosas with (for the non pregnant guests)

10 Liters of Spirte or Seria Mist or 7 Up Mixed with 10 Tubs of Lime Sherbert for punch in a large bowl with a ladel and meduim sized cups

And a small assortment of canned/bottled drinks for guests who would prefer something else. People can always have water also so it would be nice to place a pitcher of water out for people.

As far as food is concerned I would purchase a couple of large fruit trays, Veggie trays and small finger foods from Sams Club (you can get trays that feed up to 50 for CHEAP) and something to much on (chips or crackers) with a dip.

Then of course you'd have the cake or cake(s).

let's assume meat...1/4lb per guest at 100 guests = 25 lbs

you can do the same math for fruit, sandwiches, etc

WHOA
okay serve like 5 bags of chips
48 dozen muffins
a whole bunch of cookies
man i cant thnk
thats like, soooo many people.
hire a caterer.

The quickest way is to anticipate food for a group of 4 and multiply it by 25. Having more food is better than running out.

what my family did was we created a menue had people check the things theyde want and get that stuff its so much easier!good luck and have fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

man, a LOT. After the money you spend for the whole babyshower and the gifts you get, you might as well not have a baby shower and buy your own baby stuff. you will only break even. try cutting down the list. you are just being greedy.

Wow! You're a brave woman! LOL
Since it's going to be outside, maybe have some hamburgers, cheeseburgers, hotdogs, bratwurst, chips, potato salad, fresh green salad, fresh fruits, a veggie tray, of course a cake, freshly squeezed lemonade, etc.
Sounds like a great time!

You would need a variety of cold cuts and cheeses. A vegetable platter. Buns. Cold salads, potatoe, macaroni, cole slaw. Drinks. Hope this helps.

That depends. Are you going to have a meal or just grazing munchies and beverages?

Your going to need a lot. but it works better if you just buy a buch of appitizer type things. That way everyone can have what they want and the amount they want!!
I mean things like, chips and dip, veggies and dip, cheese squares, strawberries, and maybe small sandwiches.

Well in California we always have a taco man, you Mexican soft tacos catered. every body loves them and you don't do any thing just order., other wise just hamburgers and hot dogs.

But if you invited 100 people get enough food for 60 65 people they never all show

i would at least make enough so everyone can have at least two servings.
you could also ask them how much they plan on eating, or how many people they are bringing.

spam and lots of it

Well, first you want to decide whether you're going to feed 'em a complete meal or just snacks and finger foods? If a full meal, you order half a pound of meat per guest. You prepare enough potatoes to give each guest a half-cup serving. Same for the vegetable. A dinner roll apiece and, if you choose to serve a salad beforehand, that should add up to about a cup per person, too. I'd suggest holding off dessert for half an hour to an hour after the main meal - and then each adult serving should amount to a half a cup - and have enough to give half of 'em seconds - if there's children amongst them, the boys especially will beg for seconds on dessert!

If, on the other hand, you plan finger foods and snacks, just keep those serving trays and dishes full. Plan on at least a cupful of mixed snacks - nuts, chips and the like - per adult plus a half-cupful of carrots, radishes and celery per adult. Give 'em a choice of two different dips. The drinks: that could get complicated, but for a summer afternoon garden party, I'd have enough soft drinks for each person to have two 16-ounce tumblers (glasses) of soda. People are aware of caffeine and sugar in their drinks these days, so I'd suggest all diet colas and a couple two-liter bottles of caffeine-free diet cola too. If they want something stronger, add the phrase "bring your own bottle" to the invitations.
Yo: hope your party turns into a real blast!

You need to avail of the catering services if that is the case. I suggest it must be a buffet so that food will not be easily consumed instead of serving it individually.

I wouldnt do anything with Mao. due to you have to keep it cold.. and its tricky if not done right....
Figure 1/2 cup of each salad and 2 sandwiches per person,(10lbs of each sandwich meat, Can be frozen if not used)
300 meatballs(can be frozen if not eaten)
3-4 bags of chips. 10 gallons of Ice tea, 10 gallons of Lemonad/punch . Buy the mix if you dont use for party it can be saved. And cheaper then soda, 3 cases of water

Pasta salad, tossed salad, Ham/cheese, Turkey/cheese, Roastbeef/cheese sandwaches, Deviled Eggs, sweatish meatballs or marinara meatballs (keep in a Nesco, or crockpot) . Chips, Pretzels. Ice tea, punch or lemonade and water bottles.
This is a simple but nice meal. YOU can just do cheese, crackers, veggie platter, fruit platter and cake if you want simpler Or add these to your menu ..

Have a salad/sandwich bar.Large decorated basket of sliced breads or rolls(make them small). Then a tray of meats and cheeses.Huge bowl of green salad, then a tray or several bowls of salad items---pickles,onion rings, tomatoes, cucumber slices, olives, and shredded cheeses. Then get the fillers-mac.salad,potato salad, chili or baked beans. Then put chips and salsa or other dips.(only use tortilla chips and potato chips)Then a large bowl(or melon hollowed out) of fruit. Now have your salad dressings and condiments for the sandwiches here in pretty baskets too. Then put out 5 gallons of tea and 4 pitchers of ice water.(on a different table)Just remember to have a easy set up so you can refill what you need.Cut all veggies and bag up days ahead so you will be able to enjoy the shower...

Most people have, lets say sandwiches from Subway, might have 2 or 3 sandwiches. Kids usually have 1 or half a sandwich. You can do the math. =]

2 pcks of pepperoni slices cut in half
and italian dressing
toss together and you have an easy pasta salad

tortilla roll ups
tortillas
cream cheese
green olives diced up
green onions diced up
canned green chile's diced up

combine all the ingredients and spread onto tortilla's roll up the tortillas and cut.
