Can I cook chicken that was thawed out and refrozen?!

Question:

Can I cook chicken that was thawed out and refrozen?

Answers:
If it was thawed under refrig then yes one time only. If there was any chance that it spent time at room temp then I would not risk it. Give it a smell!

yes

Sure. It may not taste as fresh as it would if you had just frozened it and then cooked it, but it is still edible.

Enjoy! And I hope I helped.

Yes you sure can eat/cook it..... I would Marinate it to give it some extra flavor......

Rule of thumb is that once you thaw raw chicken you should not refreeze until after cooked.

I was always told never to cook & eat a chicken that thawed then refrozen unless it had been cooked before refreezing.!

Its not recommended by health authorities. I agree with "Mairead" and "pamelav'.

I would not eat the chicken. Meats begin to become contaminated at temperatures above 40 F, and below 155 F. In between those two temps is considered the danger zone. I highly recomend that you waste the chicken, even with the high price! :)

You should be able to,just smell it and make sure it smells good.......

If it is slimmy and or has a smell play it safe and toss it. But for the most part if it never got to room temp it should be fine.

Yeah u should be able too. it may not taste as fresh but other than that u good to go.

While working at a restaurant, the health department explained it quite well. If the chicken (or other meat for that matter) has been handled and stored properly while out of the freezer, it can be refrozen with no problem.
