Do house birthday parties, suck for kids?!

Question:

Do house birthday parties, suck for kids?

Answers:
No they love it. We have had characters come and all that but a jumper is cheap and keeps them extremely happy. They would even be happy with just games and cake.

Not for the kids, they are usually happy with anything, I wouldn't have kids running around my house though!!

Much easier to have the party somewhere else.

No ,they love any kind of party and don't care about the venue. They just want to be with their friends and play games and eat nice food.

theyre kind of boring for everyone bu the smallest children, also some parents show off with the dinner and partybags which is sickening, take them out somewhere would be far more exciting

No they love them
Kids love being at home and having all there friends around.

Its great fun

Depends on the house i would say. And the age of the kids.

Absolutely not! When our first child was born (14 years ago now) we made the decision to have parties at home with no clowns or jumping houses. Money was not an issue, we just felt that we should actually put a little time into our kids instead of going bowling or Laser Tag.

Here's the problem, it takes work and planning. We planned several games for them to play. Here are two.

Grab the flag. Each kid starts with two strips of fabric, one in each back pocket. You define a playing field and tell them to go. The last person with a flag in their pocket wins. With the boys we could spend two hours doing this.

Pop the balloon. Similar to grab the flag, but you blow up and put two balloons on string and tie them around each foot and try to pop everyone elses balloons.

Also, I always made a themed cake. We've had mermaid, campfire, fish, pirates treasure ..... cakes. Most of which came from familyfun.com. This is also a great website and magazine for things to do with kids as well as parties.

And how do we know these parties don't suck. Because every year kids asked to be invited to our parties. Many parents have told us that their kids have told them that ours was the best party they ever went too.

It depends on a few things: The age of the kids and the creativity of their parent.
Last Dec I threw a home party for my son's 12th birthday. It had a "Fear Factor" theme, complete with custom t-shirts. You knew the party was a success when a boy vomitted (after eating something totally different than what he thought he was eating). My son said that the kids that came talked about the party for several weeks afterward and other kids in school were asking for a t-shirt. My son was excited about having his home party and was even more excited to know that some of the boys chose to come to his party instead of going to another boys party scheduled for the same date and time (which included going to the movies in a limo). He felt special and wants to do it again.

Depends on the kids. Some are so spoilt they will turn their noses up at a house party while others are happy with anything. For me it was easier to take them all somewhere and ours went to the local swimming pool where they put on a meal and the kids played in the pool, it was great!

no...just had a house party/bbq last weekend. so simple...hotdogs, hamburgers, chips, punch and cake. played singalong with kids karaoke cd on big screen. had a dancing contest- each kid got a small gift from $1 store. the main thing they wanted was a piece of cake and to sing happy birthday. it was over in 3hrs. even the older kids in my family like having parties in the yard...they pick foods, favorite cake and cable has so much to offer now- digital music can be used instead of hiring a dj.

There are many things you can do for kids in the home to celebrate a birthday. For startes, set up games, offer prizes. If you have a backyard, get a pinata. After they've finished running around. Get them all in a room and put a movie on. Place lots of pillows and blankets around the room so they can all get comfortable. Make popcorn. If the weather is nice, have cake & ice cream outside (safer for spills and messes). Of course the gift-opening is the best part. Have all the guests place their gifts on a table and try to save them for at least 3/4 into the party. Since you're having it at the house you can use some saved money for party favors. Either hand out the party favors as the kids leave, or while the birthday boy/girl is opening her gifts so they can open them together. For snacks, you can make sandwiches cut into 4 triangles, pizzas, or other easy finger foods.

The only issue is really cleaning up the mess after the party is over. But kids will be happy with almost anything if you make it fun.

If you are a big spender, try hiring a clown, magician, or something else that's unique and fun for kids. Or... rent one of those big jolly-jumpers. Kids love those! An outdoor pool party could also be fun, or even a slip-n-slide (if they still make those). If space is limited, try some water and a few squirt guns. Kids are very imaginative and can make a lot of fun out of the littlest things.

ALSO.... my step-son turned 13 in March. He wanted to have a sleep-over with his friends. He chose 6 friends (we didn't give him a limit) to spend the night. We had a brand new movie for them to watch on the big screen, pizza & chicken wings, chips, and soda/punch, and some mini chimichanga appetizers they always ask for, and they had a great time. Once the movie was over, they moved into his room. My husband hooked up his Xbox to my step-son's Xbox and we also took another tv in his room. They played some game where they had 2 teams playing against each other. Each team had their own TV and each kid had their own controller. They had a great time and it was all his idea.

no way, the best parties are alway's somewhere you know and then you can plan exactly what happens.

No never. They are always good for any age!

Kids - party games, finger food, party bags

Young teens - Movie, popcorn, make-up and nails

Older teens - Music, Food, Dancing, (boys AND girls) with parents out of sight (not to far lol)

Have fun!

hi,my son birthday is always at Mac Donald's.there they kinds have fun, games toys, and also they love they magician.

There's lots of mess to clear up after the party.
As the preferred place for parties is held in either Country Clubs, restuarants or MacDonalds or Wendy.
