What are some great ideas for summer dinner parties?!

Question:

What are some great ideas for summer dinner parties?

I love having dinner parties. Now that summer is almost here, I'm looking for some new ideas. (Themes, recipes, party favors, games, drinks, etc.). This would be for a group of adults. Please share your ideas and/or books that will give me some inspiration!

Answers:
Christmas in July! Have Christmassy decorations, fake snow, play "dirty Santa," decorate a palm tree with lights, make frozen hot chocolate served in red and green mugs, play Christmas music, have a fruitcake walk, have someone dress up in a Santa hat and beard but have on a tank-top and Bermuda shorts, hang mistletoe and play reindeer games!

Have fun!

Try a luau party! Order some pizza, serve some fruits and cocktails, have a hula contest.
Also you can try a bbq with beer or wine, make an old west decoration.
And another idea could be a karaoke party!

have a luau, or get one of those awesome do-it-yourself murder mysteries

How about a tapas party? Make several different tapas style dishes and mix a few pitchers of sangria. This would work great for an outdoor deck/backyard party, and would give you more time with your guests and less time spent in the kitchen since some of them could be made ahead of time.

How about pizzas on the grill? Delicious and fun:

theme parties are great:

Fiesta night (mexican dishes, i.e. tacos, margueritas, enchiladas)
Seafood night (shrimp kabobs, fried fish, cole slaw, hush puppies, beer)
Hawaiian luwah (sp) - roast pig (yuck, but you get the idea)
Regular BBQ

Pizza on the grill can be a fun and interesting BBQ option for your casual summer party, not to mention the shocked look on your friends faces when you place a pizza on your grill. I use a higher quality frozen pizza and place it on a HOT clean grill. From time to time you will need to spin the pizza around on the grill (Do Not Flip) to avoid hot spots or burning. While cooking, keep the lid closed to cook the top of the pizza. I found that a homemade BBQ chicken pizza lends itself to the grill nicely because it picks up the smoky grill flavor and goes great with margaritas and Coronas.

Have a piniata (not sure if that's the spelling, sad I know) for the adults that have little bottles of liquor, plastic ones!!! We did that it was fun!

If its for your gf's then you can have a spa and smoothie summer bash!

I'm doing a Taste of the Caribbean in two weeks.
I bought coconut cups from target for the tropical flavored ice tea; the cup doubles as the party favor. menu: jerk chicken salad and fried wontons with mango sauce.

In august, we are doing a mardi gras theme dinner party with the traditional mardi gras colors, beads, masks, jambalaya and fried chicken.
