Housewarming party?!

Question: Housewarming party!?
Do people usually register for a housewarming party!? I planned a party and never thought of that, but one of the guests asked where we are registered!. Hmmmm!. I thought you threw a party and that's it!. If someone brings you something great, but if not oh well!. I thought the point was for people to just come hang out and see where ya are staying now, while having a few drinks and food!!!
!?!?!?!?!?
I wouldn't feel right registering!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
No, I would not register for a housewarming party - it is way too contrived and seems greedy!. The idea of a housewarming is to introduce your friends to your new home and have them enjoy the evening (or day) in it with you!.
Most people will bring something though - (I hope!) - usual housewarming gifts are bottles of wine or liquor, house plants, picture frames, candles, vases, flowers, coffee-table books - that sort of thing!.
If anyone else asks about registering, just say Oh - No, we're not registered anywhere, we just really want everyone to come by and see our new place - I hope you'll be there!Www@FoodAQ@Com

your right, i never registered anywhere for a house warming party, but if they want suggestions you can ask for things like candles, candle holders, incense and burners, potpourri, dried flowers, or an item that you have a collection of, such as angel statues, crosses, etc!.!. If it's your first house ever, then, items you really need such as !.!.!. towels in your kitchen or bathroom colors, or bed sheets, or just tell them a store that you like such as pier 1, or Kirkland's, etc!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I've never heard of registering either, and your sentiments are exactly the same as mine! But, it doesn't hurt to register at a few places, and if someone asks, then you can tell them! also, it makes it easier for relatives to find you birthday or holidays gifts then too!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Don't call it a housewarming party!. You will end up with nine hundred potted plants!. Just say it's an open house all day!. Maybe hold it around a holiday like Memorial Day and serve hot dogs or BBQ!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

No, that's tacky!. You do what you are planning, it sounds wonderful!Www@FoodAQ@Com
