I'm planning a surprise.....?!

Question:

I'm planning a surprise.....?

PICNIC for my b/f on Saturday. I think I'll make him breakfast in bed, then tell him we're going somewhere and take him to our favorite park and surprise him with a wonderful picnic. WHAT SHOULD I MAKE AND BRING?!?!?!!? Never really prepared my own picnic before....HELP ME!!! Thanks.

Answers:
There are two ways you can go for a picnic.
Either the bottle of champagne, fresh baguette bread, a nice selection of pates and cheeses, and a variety of fresh fruit. Chocolate eclairs for dessert.
OR you can go with the friend chicken, coleslaw, potato salad and crusty rolls, some cut up veggies & fruits, with either soft drinks or beer, or wine. Brownies for dessert.
Whichever style you go with, don't forget a nice blanket to spread on the ground, big enough to sit/sprawl out on, dishes and utensils, a big bottle of water (if not to drink, then to rinse off dishes and/or hands!) and a frisbee or a ball for after you finish eating!

Some pasta salad...small sandwiches...fresh fruit...and something sweet...and water bottles.

Depends.... if you want the romance approach - go for nice wine and nice cheeses, and fruit, etc. Or, more casual? get some nice fried chicken (or make it) and some cole slaw, etc. YUM!

nothing too messy..definitely some wine and if you're staying until the evening maybe some citronella candles for bugs!!

well, dont pamper men too much... or they will take it for granted.
breakfast in bed then pinic? girl, dont make yourself too tired end up you cant enjoy yourself.
most importantly is the ambience and mood.
food that are not too messy. some fruits, chips, sandwich, berverages, wine???
take a walk in supermarket for idea.

sandwich dip

Chicken Salad in Croissants
Prtezel Sticks
Pasta Salad w/ Fresh Tomatoes and Cukes
Brownies
Iced Tea or Wine or Cokes

hummm...great minds must think alike...lol...because I just did the same thing for my hubby last month.

He's a meat eater and usually scoffs at fruits and veggies...but I still thought the following items were easy to make and take to a picnic with minimum hassle.

Quiche ( I made mini quiches at home with lots of bacon and cheese which he likes)
Melon balls wrapped up with prosciutto and stuck together with little toothpicks (very easy to pick up and tasty too)
A bowl of strawberries and a store bought chocolate dip container ( I ended up eating those by myself...but I still think they are essential for a romantic picnic)
Croissant sandwiches with roastbeef and spicy marinara sauce (pick his favorite cold cuts...ham, turkey...etc).

You are welcome to change ingredients around...but maybe these will give you some ideas.

I wanted to bring things we could eat with our hands and maybe feed to each other without having to worry about to many accessories.

Bring a bottle of wine as well...and two pretty wine glasses to set the mood.

I had cupcakes instead of a birthday cake....lol

Good luck and enjoy!

Okay - the main thing is to pick things that you can feed each other. That way you can recline on a blanket, snuggle and feed each other. Wine, cheese, fruit, Italian bread and maybe some ham slices, pickles, olives things like that would be great for this.

If it's not that kind of picnic - I would go with fried chicken, potato salad, rolls and beer & soda, cookies and watermelon.

Don't forget blanket, pillows, bottles of water, sunscreen and bug spray.
