I am throwing my 10 yr old daughter an outdoor carnival party and need help?!

Question:

I am throwing my 10 yr old daughter an outdoor carnival party and need help?

Its going to be a public event, were going to make tons of flyers to advertise it. Since its a public event we're going to charge for some of the attractions like the dunk tank, food (but not alot of money) And instead of having money floating all over the place were going to have a ticket booth where you buy tickets to use at the carnival. Her friends that she invite will get passes to use on food, games, and everything else. Kind of like VIP lol.. She wants to have clowns, a petting zoo, face painters, a dunk tank, inflatable jumping rooms, an inflatable slide, pizza, hotdogs, popcorn, and games for prizes....i would really appreciate it if you guys added your suggestions and comments to this...i really need help to see what im missing

Answers:
you might want to consult a experienced party planner in your area for help with the overall logistics and getting non-child molester vendors.

I would like to point out that if you can really afford to have a blow-out carnival for your daughters birthday its tacky to say you're turning it into a public event and actually going to charge "to help pay for the vendors, etc". Thats like having a wedding and asking people to buy a ticket for the buffet, pay for the band AND having a cash bar or having a house party and making everyone pay for the beer, food, and band.

Besides the liability issues pointed out earlier I would examine the overall idea. Why not just invite her school and not charge? That way you can kinda keep tabs on who is going to be there.

If you are going all out, I would also get a pool if it's during the day. But that depends on what she likes. And if she can swim.

You pretty much seem to have all the entertaining side sorted. However, you will need public liability insurance or its equivalent where you live or you could end up with huge problems. You, also, need to think about first-aid help should it be needed, lifeguard for the pool (?) and tax implications of taking money at the event. And what about parking?

dang!
that is going to be a big investment. . .
the only thing i see you may be missing is the icee/snow cones

Choccy has some terrific points about the liability issues involved with something of this scale. Is this all really necessary for a 10 year old? It seems way over the top and awfully indulgent, especially for a child.

Nothing really it sounds fun your a great Mom

this is actually pretty good for now, but try getting snow cones, and some security guards or something like that because since this is a public event, anyone can just come in, buy a ticket, and snatch kids without anyone noticing. i would suggest a private event just for people you know, to lessen the danger. and besides, why would complete strangers want to celebrate a party for someone they don't know? but its a good way to make some money.

Check to see if you need any sort of permits first and you will have to check about insurance. This is going to cost you a fortune you know.
