House-warming party without the gifts?!
We just bought our first house April 28!. We want to have family over to show it off, maybe even have dinner!. I want to send out invitations, but I have 2 issues:
1!. Due to my extreme sense of pride/bad experiences, I do NOT want people to bring gifts!.
2!. I don't want to call it a house warming party bc that's not what I'm going for!.
So!.!. I need a name for this event & a polite way to say, just bring yourself :)

Simple put on the invitations "your presence is the only present required" or something to that effect as most people who feel as you do!.
You don't have to call it anything, just send out invites with the time and place, it's a get together sort of thing!. If you're inviting neighbors call it something like "get to know our neighbors" or "We've moved and want you to be able to find us!" " Come on over!"Www@FoodAQ@Com

Question 1: On the card say, if you'd like to make a contribution, we aren't excepting gifts, but you can donate to a local charity of your choice, such as the food bank in our names!.

How about calling it a Family Get Together and have a potluck theme this way they will bring the food and not the gifts!.
Or make a suggestion on your card that says In lieu of gift please make a donation to your favorite charity!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
