I've done a "sandwich bar" before that went over really well!. The kids can build their own, and younger kids can eat little bits here and there!. Vegetarians are happy because they can build a meatless sandwich!. It's healthy and inexpensive!. I think I made either a pasta salad or a green salad to go along with that and had some bits of cut up fruit for everyone to munch on!. We steered clear of TV characters, because we (along with some of the other parents) don't have one, and also because kids don't need that to have fun!. Just go with bright, fun colors!. I have to disagree with the idea of serving alcohol at a child's party!. If adults need that to have a good time, what does that say to the children!? Don't forget the reason you all are there in the first place!.
I think one of the most important things about throwing parties with food for young children is getting them used to the idea of eating fruits and veggies at a young age so that they will enjoy them later on in life!. Hope this helps!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I have 3 grandkids under 4-1/2 !.!.!. and pizzas are what go over the best at parties!. You can get cheese for the kids, and toppings for the adults!. Plus, have a veggie/dip platter, and a fruit tray!. Lemonade is a good drink for the kids, since it doesn't stain:) !.!.!. Kids this age are not interested in experimenting with new foods! also, they'll be too busy running around to spend much time eating!. !.!.!. You can get a "cupcake cake" at Kroger, or your local grocery bakery!. It's cupcakes pushed together and frosted as one cake on top (any theme)!. Easier to serve & for the kids to eat !.!.!.!. A bounce house is best for this age; their attention span is too short for organized games, and they won't wait patiently while someone else takes their turn!. also, you can't award prizes, because they don't understand the concept of winning yet!.!.!.!. Ask your local fire or police department to send a few people over!. They're usually happy to talk to the kids!. The police bring badge stickers, and the firemen let the kids climb on the fire engine!.!.!.!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Thomas the Train Engine: engineers caps for everyone, plates and cups to match!. blue table cloth, whistles for favors!.
And a train cake is easy to make by baking the cake mix in the small aluminum loaf pans, line them up, and decorate with cookies for wheels, candies for lights, string licorce for tracks!.

Bob The Builder: hard hats (any dollar stor) for everyone, them plates and cups, yellow or red for table cloth, plastic tool kits for favors, lunch "buckets" made from shoe boxes or
any small boxes to serve a "workman's" lunch!. Make a construction truck the same way, bake mixes in different and unique sizes of amuminum pans, stack and decorate to the type of equipment you'd like to represent!.

Animals!: this one would be super simple and you could find almost anything you need in a dollor store!Www@FoodAQ@Com
